Baruch College, what an amazing time, what a depressing midterms, what a grown life I had over the past three months. I have been around this college, this community for almost two years since I was learning English at Baruch ESL program. Yet, nothing, not even those two years can be compared to the first freshman semester. I have met so many people that I lost a count of them. Honestly, even spending one semester, I discovered many hidden golden skills and talents that I have. I became very much sociable and it somehow surprised me the way I can make friends easily, have speech to the group, and very much started growing leadership skills. I became very confident when talking to somebody. I must also give a remarkable credit to Jori Happonen and Donovan Taitt who helped me to discover possibilities that Baruch provides. They were like brothers who helps you stand up when you fall, tells you what to do when you lost. I really appreciate their effort. I can’t wait to continue my academic studies and discover more about myself in which Baruch is perfect.

The reason I chose to come to Baruch in the first place was because I was recruited to play for their basketball team.
But in combination with that,the Graphic communications program was also one of the reasons I chose Baruch. The experience has been great so far.
Over the pat few months, i’ve had the opportunity to be on a great basketball program. I’ve been training with the team since before the semester had even started and therefore got a feel of the campus even before i entered my first semester as a freshman.
My teammates as well as coaching staff have been extremely welcoming and made my fellow freshman teammates and i feel at home right away.
The season started only a month ago, but it feels like I’ve been playing with these girls for many years. We’ve already had the opportunity to go out of state and play and also hope to keep traveling around various parts of the country in order to play great teams. The experience is very different from anything i’ve been able to experience before. Although it is really hard to have to balance classes and athletics together, the various programs and resources that Baruch has to offer has helped me grow out of any adversity that regards  balancing the two.
Apart from being on a great team and having great friends, even the professors don’t fail to be good role models.
In addition to being on the team, the various clubs that Baruch offers has had a good impact on my social life and has taken away the stress when needed.
Overall, i have no regrets on joining the college and hope to have great basketball season this year and the next three to come.
But most importantly a great four year college experience.

On taking the various assessments that Focus 2 had to offer, it seemed pretty realistic as to what i want to pursue eventually.
The program definitely assessed all my skills well and gave me a clear sense of what i could  expect to be eventually doing. Although some of the careers had nothing to do with anything i’ve ever thought of doing, it was interesting to know that i have access to multiple options based on my skills.
I undoubtedly gained something out of taking this survey, because i know now that i do have multiple strengths that i can feed of off.

There is a fine line between getting involved easily and not getting involved easily in college, once you´re into getting involved it becomes easy to be interested in the events that go around. In addition to learning what the events have to offer culturally, you get a chance to meet new people which makes your college experience that much more exciting.
The highly anticipated Reggaeton Fest that had been promoted  and organized by LA UNIDAD LATINA, LAMBDA UPSILON LAMBDA, Fraternity,inc. WBMB THE Biz and Undergraduate Student Government was a huge success.  For weeks during club hours, people from all these organizations went around with flyers and a word to promote this Latino heritage party. It was held at the Multipurpose room on the ground floor of the Vertical Campus Building.The night kicked of with great food and socializing. To add to that was traditional reggae and latino  music and dancing. A great insight to the Latino heritage. The night ended with an opportunity to witness a probate (initiation into a sorority) .Probates in general is a “coming out” or crossing out into the pledges. Through the rain  and the 30 degree weather, the two pledges did their steps and stop surrounded by other sororities and fraternities in support of making it to the end of the pledging.
Overall being a freshman, my experience in a diverse college such as Baruch  broadens my outlook toward globalization or how the world is made of multiple cultures. The night was a memorable one and one that taught me a little about a culture that I might have not attempted to know otherwise.  It also taught me how strong of a brotherhood and sisterhood the fraternities and sororities respectively are.
A good, eventful and knowledgable night.

                     The Baruch Art Performing center had a staged reading of the Play Antigone. A staged reading in general is a non-rehearsed theatrical performance where the actors use their script for reference by reading right out of it and performing. My theatre teacher Prof. Debra Caplan gave us, her students this optional opportunity to watch Antigone in a staged reading.  The experience in general was extremely unique, like as though we were watching a rehearsal. The characters wore clothes they would wear on a regular basis, but still portrayed the characters as they were expected. Although the play lacked the props and the costumes, it still had the feel of a regular play. Overall  I would recommend everyone to go to the Baruch Performing Arts Center and watch not only this play, but any in general. The theatre experience in general at Baruch is well done and rehearsed. There somehow seems to be a connection the audience has with these characters, because of how relatable it becomes when watching a regular person in regular clothes act out a story. The audience will end having the exact same emotions the main characters feel. The characters all seemed very experienced with drama and their also were a variety of age groups of characters. Therefore, i would undoubtedly recommend everyone i know to watch any theatrical performance that Baruch stages.

Focus 2 is a very smart idea. Focus 2 helped me narrow down what I really want to do in my future based on my personality. I knew basically what I thought was good for me but based on the questions that they asked in focus 2 they narrowed it down even more then i did for myself. The quizzes were very helpful and easy to take. All classes should make their student take these. I lesrnt that i like leadership and enterprising and saw a bunch of 6 figure jobs that i can pursure!

Above is my picture and the file from which I took it from. I know it seems cliche that i chose the Baruch emblem to represent how I felt after the first three months but it is not the emblem that I am writing about. I am writing about the school spirit that I see around Baruch. I am not the best when it comes to school spirit but I see so many students that have so much in them. Everyday I see so many students wearing a Baruch hat, sweatshirt, sweatpants hat etc. They really love coming here and love what Baruch has to offer. I also see so many clubs meeting and trying to make their cause known in the school. The crazy thing is that I am saying this and do not even see half of what goes on here. I am only in the school for a couple of hours a week. I really would like to get more involved. These students inspired me because it looks like they are having so much fun. My first three months have been okay here. There was a lot of adjusting but I will learn to love it and hopefully get more involved in the clubs!

Taking FRO on my second semester in Baruch seems useless but after 3months of FRO class I figured I am just a cop in that picture.
I learned many things about Baruch, and my path seems getting clear from good mentors, and helps. I really appreciate to people who help me through out this semester. Thank you.

My group chose food festival as a main subject for several reasons. First of all, people in our group were from different countries and the only thing that connected us was food.  Moreover,we were eager to try different one and the easiest way to do that is to go to the food festival. There you can not only eat delicious food, which is prepared by chiefs from all over the world, but also to spend some of your leisure time with international people.

Being an international student and study in a foreign language is hard. My first three months were rough, but I really like that time.

First, I was afraid that I would fail most of my classes because my English is not so strong. I felt like native speakers have advantage of this. Even though it was difficult the first two weeks, I just got use to the new rhythm of my life. Courses that I am taking now are very interesting for me, and I enjoy studying. Unfortunately, I did not have any business classes, but I took them for the next semester. I hope I will have as much enthusiasm to study as I have now.

Second, college is a great place to make friends and business connections. Only for the first month I met so many interesting people, and each of them has an amazing story of how they come to Baruch. We share our experience and helpeach other with classes.  Furthermore, I visited a workshop in Lawrence N. Field Center of Entrepreneurship, where I also met some businessmen and have a pleasure to talk to them.

I never regret about my decision to go to Baruch. It is amazing place with incredible amount of opportunities. I believe that Baruch is a door to the world of business.
