-This slideshow showcases who I am… well as much as one can show in a matter of eight slides. I am very family oriented and for me, family is over everything. My mother is my rock and my go to person for any worries, my dad is my support system, my brother is the jokester and brings all the fun, and my sister is my role model; the type of person I hope to become one day.
-The next thing important in my life is my friends. These 5 girls mean everything to me and have made me the person I am today; I couldn’t be more grateful for them.
-Next is desserts.. or just food in general. I am in love with sweet and chocolatey things. I eat all the time, no matter what mood I am and I am very thankful for my fast metabolism for without it, I would probably resemble a hippopotamus.
-The type of music I listen to varies from One Direction to Paramore and Green Day. I love going to underground shows for bands that are not that well known like All Time Low, Pierce the Veil and Sleeping With Sirens. As everyone else does, I listen to different music depending on what mood I am in.
-I absolutely live for shopping and carry my debit card everywhere with me. This is bad because I do not know the value of money and spend it on everything and anything I like.
-As many American girls are obsessed with Hollywood, I am obsessed with Bollywood. Bollywood is like the “Hollywood” of India and I hope to work in it one day. I love the movies, soap operas, music, dances, food and clothing that goes along with the Indian culture.
-Something I always have in my bag is my Nook. I enjoy reading because it lets me escape into a whole new world for a few hours. Some of my favorite books are The Kite Runner, The Great Gatsby, the entire Harry Potter and Hunger Games series, and any romance books.
-Kids have been a big part of my life because I have been working/volunteering at my elementary school since the 6th grade. Around these kids, I become a kid myself and forget all the stress I have and focus on just having a good time. Walking in and being swarmed by hugs and kisses by a group of kids everyday just warms my heart.

This playlist pretty much sums up who I am. “I want it that way” is a song that reminds me of the past and how simple I wish it used to be. “You’ll be in my heart” explains how family is one of the most important things in my life. All of the party songs show how I love having fun and that I know how to have a good time. If I ever see anyone frown or just having a bad day, I would do what ever it took to make that person smile, even if I look foolish in the end. Finally all of the love songs are because every time I meet a girl I love, the one thing I know that I must do is do everything I can to make sure she is happy and loved. I don’t understand why some guys treat women like crap. Every woman deserves to be treated like a princess by the man she’s with.

The creation of this playlist was not an easy feat. I have to choose only 10 songs that represent the inner workings of my mind? With great difficulty (meaning in 20 minutes), I chose 10 songs in the order that I believe is how I present myself to people. Ever since November of 2012, I have been listening to K-pop songs the most. Please don’t ask me which songs in the U.S. are in the Top 40, I don’t know. But I can tell you which K-pop group is going to release a new album! I can also tell you which group is currently on tour in Asia! As much as I love K-pop, I also can’t stop listening to “High School Never Ends” since I feel that the lyrics have some measure of truth. I feel like I’m the only person who can listen to the same song on repeat 20+ times. I’m also slowly trying to get into J-pop, but I feel like it’ll take a really long time. 🙁  I hope to show that I’m not some misguided “fangirl” who does nothing but scream, but that I get excited when there’s a new release from my favorite group. Freshman Seminar Playlist

This playlist does not only show my unique flavor in different music genres but I chose these songs because these are my “Favorite Songs” which I had many memories with. I grew up hanging around and meeting a lot of people especially during the nine years of soccer. I was able to listen to many different types of music because I interacted with many different ethnicities. Some of these songs go back tot he sixth grade in which I was closest with my cousin and we used to listen to music together. I also included some of my songs that I used to listen to on road trips for soccer tournaments as well which used to get my hyped for the game.

Instead of choosing songs whose lyrics represent me as a person, I felt it would be more appropriate to showcase my wide variety of musical preference. By including different genres of music in my playlist, it shows how I have an open mind when it comes to experiencing new things. The ten songs I selected include rap, house, pop, euro-pop, modern Greek and traditional Greek. One Greek song, “Enas Aetos” which translates to “One Eagle” represents the traditional music I was raised with. As I grew older, I acquired my own unique taste which can be seen throughout the rest of my playlist. My euro-pop and modern Greek music reminds me of the summer. Vacationing in Europe, I was exposed to different types of music which I grew fond of. The genre I listen to at any given moment depends solely on my mood. Generally when I’m excited or upbeat I prefer listening to something pumping like house. On the other hand, when I’m sitting on the train after a long day at school I would rather listen to rap or something more soothing.

This playlist is full of songs that show that not everything as it seems, just like me. These songs take different spins on the Bible “Beast and the Harlot”, views on life and possession “Between Angels and Insects”, and decisions you make “Crossroads”. One song “Born With Nothing, Die With Everything” I actually have tattooed on me. You come into the world with nothing but a name and the goal is to leave with a legacy. In the end I am not as I appear “Smoke and Mirrors”, I have a sensitive side, “Dear God”, I believe that we “buy things we don’t need, with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like” -Chuck Palahniuk, Fight club, and the “the things we own, own us” -Chuck Palahniuk, Papa Roach, “Between Angels and Insects”. I believe we “Get Away With Murder” because people only look and things and don’t actually see it for what it is, “Stop Looking Start Seeing”.  Although you’d like to believe everything is as it seems to be, not everything is nice and easy “Where Did the Angels Go”, sometimes you have to dig deep, come back to reality and realize your missing the forest for the trees.

This playlist doesn’t really say much about my personality. I did start to make a playlist with songs that I felt described me in some way but I only got two songs in before I went back to square one. If this playlist says anything, it’s that I’m a music nerd. Like seriously. Every day I find some new song or artist to love, obsess over and blast through the big headphones that I’m wearing as I write this. Most of the music I listen to is in Japanese so it wasn’t that easy to find the songs I listen to that represent who I am, but I did (and don’t worry, there are links to the English lyrics). Some of the songs included (Great Pretender, Morning Dreamer, StargazeR, My Song) show how I prefer living in my own world and drift off to wherever my imagination takes me. “No Thank You” shows that I love being young and take pride in it. “SandStorm” shows how I am very energetic, but have control over it, rather than just running around in circles all day long (DUDUDUDUDUDU *if anyone understands this, I love you*). “Thousand Enemies” shows how I have no care for roadblocks or anything standing in the way of what I think is right. If I believe in it, nothing will stop me, and I mean nothing, despite how shy I am. “Heart Goes Boom!!” represents how, despite my innate shyness, I still find ways to show who I am, and how I am important. The last two songs, “Ai Kotoba” and “Ichiban no Takaramono” are my favorite songs ever, and represent my softer/cutesy side. They help me to relax and go off into my own world, and also get me to think about what my life will be like when I relearn what love is.
