The songs on my list are songs that I think show who I am as a person. I chose some of them because the lyrics, or because it was by one of my favorite bands, or because it is one of my favorites from a genre. These songs represent who I am because I chose them and I like them and I think that show what kind person I am based on what I like.

1. All American Rejects – Gives You Hell  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxUATkpMQ8A

2.  The Killers – This river is wild  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5PkjXxf0Zo

3. Muse – Butterflies and Hurricanes

4. Girls Generation – Gee  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7mPqycQ0tQ

5. Plastic Tree – Mirai Iro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3msEOwONhg

6.  Kyary Pamyu Pamyu – Fashion Monster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GivkxpAVVC4

7. Owl City – Rainbow Veins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkgMd5bm_w8

8. My Chemical Romance – Sing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks6Kiw_PuyI

9. Demi Lovato –  La La land https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7GicjI8fcw

10. Kelly Clarkson – Because of You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTTjLxXFg0k

I chose the first three songs because they’re by my favorite bands. I’ve been listening to All American Rejects since I was little, and I really like Muse’s music. They’re my favorite songs from each band and I like the lyrics from This river is wild and Butterflies and Hurricanes.  “You’ve got to be the best
You’ve got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now”

I like these lyrics because now that I’m college it makes sense that I have to work hard to be the best so I can make some impact in the world and be successful.

The next three songs are not in english but I really love kpop and japanese music. Gee by Girls Generation is the first kpop song I ever heard and it got me to listen to more and more and now I’ve been listening to kpop for years.  Mirai Iro is the first Japanese song I heard and its what got me into japanese music. I didn’t really know any japanese music so after i found this song, I listened to more Plastic Tree and that led me to more bands and Jpop. Plastic Tree is also one of my favorite bands and I still listen to them. Fashion Monster is a song that shows who I am because the lyrics are saying to just let her be who she is. I’m pretty weird and like weird things so I can really relate to this song. “I don’t want to be bound by someone else’s rules
I’m so selfish, my heart is pounding, I want to stay the way I am”

Owl city is also one of my favorites. This song is my favorite because I used to listen to it during my “angsty teenage years” and got me through a lot. I can really relate to the lyrics as well.

“Your nerves gather with the altitude
Exhale the stress so you don’t come unglued
Somewhere there is a happy affair, a ghost of a good mood”

My Chemical Romance is also a band I used to listen  to during my angst years and this song shows that. I still like the song and the songs i used to listen to with this band.

“Sing it for the boys, sing it for the girls
Every time that you lose it, sing it for the world
Sing it from the heart, sing it ’til you’re nuts
Sing it out for the ones that’ll hate your guts”

The last two songs are from two of my favorite artists. I love Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato because they have great voices and they’re great people. I used to listen to Kelly Clarkson a lot when I was younger because I love her songs. Because of you is my favorite of hers. Demi Lovato has been through a lot and shes gotten better and stronger. She is someone who I admire.

I believe these songs describe who I am. They talk about falling down and getting back up. No matter the circumstance. Instead of sitting and focusing on what happened it is best to get back up and keep moving with life. When things get tough and hard to deal with, I don’t sit and do nothing about it. I use those failures and bad times to propel myself forward. I use my failures in life as motivation to do better.

  1. Over my Head, The Fray
  2. Speed of Sound, Coldplay
  3. Bruises, Train
  4. Open Your Eyes, Snow Patrol
  5. What About Now, Daughtry
  6. 100 Years, Five for Fighting
  7. Better Days, The Goo Goo Dolls
  8. Show me What I’m Looking For, Carolina Liar
  9. Move Along, All American Rejects
  10. Go The Distance, Michael Bolton

The first song I chose is Over my Head by the Fray. In the first few lines it talks about things everything coming down which is how we all feel at times but then it turns out he just in over his head. The next song is Speed of  Sound by Coldplay. This song shows how we always keep climbing. Bruises by Train talks about our imperfections that make us who we are. Open Your Eyes by Snow Patrol shows that you don’t have to go through the tough times alone. The next song is what about now by Daughtry. This song shows us to not forget about what’s happening right before our eyes. The sixth song I chose is 100 years by Five for Fighting. This song reminds us that we have a limited amount of time in life and we have to make the most of it. The seventh song I picked was Better days by the goo goo dolls. This song reminds us that we could always start over with a fresh start. Show me what im looking for is just a song I like to listen to never put much thought into the lyrics. Move along is probably one of my favorite songs because the lyrics which talk about not focusing on the bad things but getting up and moving on, and the music. The last song is a classic Go the Distance from Hercules, which sums it all up that nothing can be achieved without putting in effort.

At first, I thought choosing ten songs that described me would be easy and then I started to create this playlist and I realized I was just picking my favorite songs. Does that describe me? I’m not really sure but I know that they are my favorites for a reason and I guess that does answer the question “Who am I?”.

“Bad Things” by Jace Everett became a song that I listened to every Sunday night at 9 pm when one of my favorite shows, True Blood, was on. By the third episode I knew all of the lyrics and it eventually ended up on my playlist. Now that True Blood is over, I find myself sad every time it comes on shuffle, but I think it’ll always be a song that relates to me.

I first heard “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s when I was scrolling down my tumblr many years ago and came across the cutest cover of this song of a father and his daughter. For some reason anything that involves a father-daughter bond, always makes me emotional. I showed the video to my grandmother who had absolutely no idea what they were saying but still loved the song. We would listen to it every time we were together. Now, whenever I listen to it, I think of her. Each time, she pops into my head and I find myself walking downstairs to see her.

The cover of “Fast Car” by Boyce Avenue reminds me of one of my closest friends. He always asks me to put it on while we’re in the car. At first I hated it and would dread going into a car with him because I knew what was coming. Each time I played it, he would sing at the top of his lungs and it became somewhat of a ritual. I learned to love it and now every time I’m in a car, I play it.

“Angel / Better Together” by Jack Johnson are actually two songs that he puts together during his concerts. I went to his concert in June in Brooklyn with my boyfriend. It was outdoors and everyone was sitting on the floor and it was such a laid back concert but it was an incredible time. I think the reason I love this song and the reason I love Jack Johnson is because I got to experience seeing him with a really important person in my life.

“LoveStoned” by Justin Timberlake doesn’t even begin to describe me. If I could add fifty more songs to this playlist, they would all be Justin Timberlake songs. My love for him is actually ridiculous and I never imagined seeing him in concert and when I did I was shaking the entire time. My sister got me tickets for Christmas and I cried like a baby, it was the greatest gift ever.

“Breezeblocks” by Alt-J was my anthem for this summer. As I was road tripping with all of my friends, this would blast out of the speakers. I heard it once and instantly fell in love and now I listen to Alt-J a lot and hope to see them in concert soon.

“A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton isn’t one of my favorite songs but it’s a staple song for the movie White Chicks which I’ve watched at least ten times. It’s also a fun song for me and my friends, because who doesn’t know all the lyrics to this song?

“Misery” by Maroon 5 makes me cry because Adam Levine is literally the most beautiful human being ever. I’ve been obsessed with Maroon 5 since I was really young and I’ve seen them three times and each time spending 200 dollars was worth it. Most people who “love” Maroon 5 know Adam is in the band and nothing else, which is fine because they don’t really care but I got to see them and say hi to them and Adam even smiled at me and my friend from his car so basically my life was a trillion times better after that day.

“Me Enamora” by Juanes describes me because Juanes is a Colombian musician. I’m Colombian and I listen to his music a lot because my mom always seems to be jamming out to his throwbacks. I grew up listening to him and I learned to love his music and I’m proud to be Colombian because of him.

“Gravity” by John Mayer is a pretty well known song and it’s one of my favorites. I absolutely love the album Continuum and listen to it daily. I saw John Mayer in concert in December, do I like concerts or nah? Anyway, he’s a really good entertainer and I really want to see him again.

There are no songs that describes my hatred for centipedes and squirrels but I’m sure this will suffice because this pretty much sums me up in ten songs!

Hi. I’m Sam.  I feel like these songs are are a good representation of me because they are some of my favorites. The music I listen to is mostly rap, but then there are some exceptions like the Cloud Atlas End Title. The songs usually have some underlying meaning that speaks to the public and makes it worth listening to. So whatever mood I’m in there’s usually a song or playlist to relate to that mood. There’s also a mix of German, British, and American rap. I like music from different cultures and walks of life. It gives different out looks on life and its just interesting to hear from the different perspective. In my opinion the whole search for new music and artists is part of the whole is one of the most exciting parts of life. Its exciting to have those new songs you can’t stop listening to for a whole week. Its exciting making memories on road trips with friends with music reminding you of those memories. Cloud Atlas is my favorite movie and in my opinion the sound track of it are some of the most beautifully written songs I know. My sisters friend was over my house and we were talking about German rap and she showed me Cro – Easy, and it was one of and still is one of my favorites. Sido – Augen Auf has a deep meaning behind the song and was actually one of the first german rap songs i discovered. During the summer when I’d drive to parites with my girlfriend, Cro – Whatever would usually come on at least once and reminds me of the good summer times. Atmosphere and Lowkey have deep meaning to their songs, so if i’m in the mood for thought, then ill listen to those songs. And one time in the car with my friend he pulled up Logic – Do Ya Like on the way to get food. So each song carries a memory, as well as a great beat and meaning

That Justin Stanziola Kid

Hi my name is Justin Stanziola, and originally I was Justin Brandon but i have had it changed for reasons with parents being separated and such. I feel this slideshow of pictures i have created represents me best in the many different things I am and love. Being pro life is a big part of who I am and that picture is one of my favorite pro life supporting pictures. I live a life of being against abortion and all for the protection of life that cannot speak for itself so I feel that picture perfectly speaks my views. I also pride myself in being a good person, and the picture just inspiring to the good in the world and believe it at the same time just speaks to me. I aspire to be a respectable and morally correct person and this picture is a great summation of just that.  I am also a huge patriot, and I love my country. That being said, I love and support our military with a burning passion. That sunset picture of Marines loading up into a helicopter is one of my all time favorites and I would do anything to be in that position someday. The picture of a robot picking up a person is of the game Titanfall. I love Titanfall and gaming is everything to me and all of who I am seeing as to how my computer is where I live. The quoted picture of the two samurai represents me in the sense of how I am an emotionally strong and determined person. I am an optimist and never underestimate myself or am negative on the future to come. The picture of the cat in the plastic bag is just one of my absolute all time favorite funny pictures, and if I had to say how it represents me i would say it is because I am a hilarious person who loves many forms of comedy and am nowhere near a stick in the mud. No type of comedy is offensive or goes unappreciated by me. The World War Two photo I absolutely love because again I love my country and I love history and everything that has happened in our past. That picture really speaks to me in how it was during such a crucial and chaotic time period and our nation came out on top. Finally, the Star Wars picture really represents me in the sense that I am a huge movie fanatic and love the creativity the picture gives off in the sense of the perspective of it. It is like a combination of gaming and movie reference that just shouts me.
