I didn’t want to post my monologue to the site, not because you all don’t deserve to see it, but because of my own concerns with posting intellectual property on a Baruch blog site. I was told that I could instead write about the work itself, but the thing is, art is perceived subjectively (just as anything is), so a person who creates should not blatantly state the message behind his work (unless someone completely misinterprets the meaning). Otherwise, the intricacies of a piece of art must be cultivated by the artist, but the ideas created by the person who indulges in it.
All of this being said, my monologue was basically about the things I see walking through NYC at night. It’s a commentary on the flourishing bar culture especially, and the general scene.
Thanks, everyone who voted for my work as well, I appreciate your appreciation!
