About Anthony

Hello LC09. My name is Anthony LiBassi. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I graduated from St. Edmund Preparatory High School. This is actually the first time I am not attending a catholic school. I decided to come to Baruch because it is close to home and is a really good business school. I could not decide on whether I wanted to major in Accounting or Engineering, but in senior year in high school I took an accounting class and really liked it, so I chose Accounting. Some of my hobbies include playing video games, watching amine, and playing sports (my favorite being baseball).me

Hello everyone, my name is Sarah Zarbail. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. No one has ever guessed my background correctly, but I am Russian and Jewish. I graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. I was on my school’s lacrosse team, which I really enjoyed. I chose Baruch because of the affordability and its reputation for Business.  I’ve been working with kids for the past four years as an after school teacher during the academic school year and a camp counselor during the summers. My biggest dream in life is to be financially stable enough to take two years off to myself in order to travel all around the world. I’m obsessed with different people from different countries who lead interesting lifestyles and I want to spend a month in each country that I have on my bucket list. I also really love animals and I have a pet snake (she’s super friendly and no it’s not gross!)

Getting to know Bin Bin

Hey LC09, I am Bin Bin. I was born in China and moved to New York when I was 8. I attended Brooklyn Technical Highschool and graduated in 2014. I chose Baruch out of two colleges I wanted to attend. The other choice was too far and too expensive. On top of that, Baruch seemed like a better place to pursue a degree in business since that is its main focus. I originally wanted to be an Aerospace engineer and with Brooklyn Tech offering me a chance, I found out I did not really enjoy that major. Therefore I want to get a degree in one of the business majors or something computer related. In my free time, I enjoy playing racing games, watching soccer or re watching all the South Park episodes(excited for September 24th). I hope to make new friends and get a job while I’m in Baruch.

About Gagandeep

Hey LC09! My name is Gagandeep Kaur. I was born and raised in Elmhurst, Queens. The high school I attended was Archbishop Molloy High School. Applying for colleges was really stressful. Baruch was not my first choice, however, it was the best CUNY for business so I decided to apply for it. When I got in I decided to go to Baruch because I felt I would receive a great education. I also believed that going to a college in the city would open more doors for job related opportunities. I am sure I want to major in either Finance or Accounting. I would have loved to double major in Finance and Accounting but when I asked someone at Baruch, I was told that it would not be possible. Some of my hobbies are reading books, shopping, going to movies or just hanging out with friends. An expectation I have for myself at Baruch is to get good grades and make the most of my college life.

Getting to Know LC09: Sharon

Hi! My name is Sharon Lui and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I graduated from Midwood High school in 2014. After getting accepted into several colleges, I gave myself two choices for attending college in the fall: Baruch or Hunter. Since I missed the date for Baruch’s admitted students day, I decided to attend Hunter’s at the very least. After the information session and tour of Hunter, I decided that it was not for me. So I went with Baruch, even though I had not researched or visited it yet. I am reluctantly going to major in Accounting, even though I have other areas of interest in mind. In my free time, or when I procrastinate, I like to eat good food, watch T.V. (especially anime/manga), shop, and sleep.

In all honesty, Baruch is not my dream school. However, I am willing to work towards changing this outlook. Even though it won’t be easy, I hope that by the end of these four years, I will evolve into a better, more mature person than I am now. I hope to excel in my studies in order to obtain a well-paying job, make authentic friends, and become an overall happy person.

About Johnny

Hello LC 09, my name is Johnny Man. I was born in China and came to New York when I was two years old. I graduated from Brooklyn Tech and chose Baruch because I have always been interested in business. Baruch was also very affordable and close to home. I plan on majoring in either Accounting or Finance and to see where it takes me. My expectations for myself while at Baruch are to study hard and be more open to clubs/organizations. During my free time, I like to watch TV and surf the web. I love playing basketball, table tennis, and all other kinds of sports. I hope to find a new path for myself at Baruch and to meet many new friends.

Hey everyone!

Hi guys! My name is Lisa Puran and I am currently a sophomore at Baruch College.  I graduated from Brooklyn Tech and originally had my sights set on becoming a lawyer. However, after being a part of the Law and Society major, I realized that I did not want to commit to that particular area of interest and decided to settle on business, specifically Finance and Computer Information Systems. Hence, I decided to attend Baruch because of its prestigious Zicklin School of Business and also because I attend on a full scholarship through the Macaulay Honors program. Unfortunately, like many of you I am a commuter student and I am still living home in my hometown of Ozone Park, Queens. This means every morning, I have to face the terrible underground monster also known as the MTA.

On my free time, I like to read, hang out with friends/family, and travel. But perhaps one of my newfound hobbies is photography since I got a DSLR for Christmas. Since then, I like to document every little thing from birthday parties to simple outings with friends to pictures of food, you name it!

During my time at Baruch, I want to open myself to a lot of possibilities such as taking diverse classes in addition to business classes, getting involved in organizations/clubs, joining enrichment programs (which I will speak about later during FRO!), and studying abroad. I personally believe that a lot of the learning happens outside of the classroom setting and therefore urge all of you to get involved and do extracurriculars on campus in addition to your classes.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you throughout the semester! 🙂

Getting to know Abdulah

Abdulah

What’s up LC 09! My name is Abdulah Dervisevic. Although I was born in the United States, my family is originally from Montenegro. I live in Astoria, Queens, for 11 years now and absolutely love it. I graduated from the Baccalaureate School of Global Education in Astoria with an IB Diploma and a High School diploma. The reason why I chose Baruch was because I felt that it satisfied all the characteristics and features that I wanted in a college, such as being affordable, having a great business school, and located close to home. I plan on going into either economics or finance as a major, but that may change. I love to play basketball and other sports during my free time and workout in the gym. I’m an open-minded person, kind, and fun to be around, so I definitely want to make as many friends as I can at Baruch.

About Matthew

Me

Hi LC09, my name is Matthew Edelson. I have lived in Woodbury, NY all my life and attended Syosset High School. Baruch was my top choice college due to its highly ranked accounting program and the fact that it’s in the city. Some of my favorite hobbies include watching TV shows (my favorite being Breaking Bad), going to concerts, and running. Some expectations I have for myself while in Baruch are to explore the city as much as possible and get an internship at a big 4 accounting firm.

About Brianna

Hello LC 09, my name is Brianna Reformato.  I was born and raised in Middle Village, New York.  I live with both of my parents and my dog Zac.  Before I came to Baruch, I went to Archbishop Molloy high school in Briarwood, Queens.  I chose to come to Baruch for two main reasons, the first being it’s reputation for being an excellent business school and the other being it’s costly tuition.  I am pursuing an accounting degree at Baruch and I hope to get my masters at Baruch too, but that is a while away.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading, and catching up on old episodes of Friends.  While at Baruch I hope to do the best I can not only in all my classes but in everything I do.
