Actuary Club

The first week of college was definitely a new experience for me. The feeling that came with going to college led me to want to become a part of something enriching. My brother, who graduated the same college about 8 years ago, was the founder of Actuarial club. Last Thursday was my first time attending the clubs meeting and it was an interesting experience because I got to see all the other members who are continuing what my brother had built long ago. This summer I  have been rigorously preparing for the first exam P, which I will take later this year. I plan to use this to club to my advantage and keep updated as I further prepare for my exams.  I was very excited to see that the room I had stepped into was completely full. There were barely enough seats for half of the students there, so my friends and I decided to take seats on the floor. I was thrilled to hear all about what the club has to offer and what the next upcoming events were. A few years ago I decided that I wanted to follow my brothers career path and become an Actuary which others considered a strange and unique career choice ,but I considered something like home. I was sometimes frustrated about the lack of awareness in this career choice, and took it upon myself to always inform others about it.  After seeing Baruch strongly support and advertisement toward the career path, I felt like I wasn’t alone. It made me feel like I  made the right decision in attending Baruch. I learned all about the possible internships as a freshman in Prudential, which is a insurance company that offers a one week bootcamp and a variety of networks with employees. I hope to learn more about it in the upcoming ASNY career fair that I’m signed up for.  I’m very confident about this club’s resources to help, and look forward to the many  amazing opportunities ahead.
