Starting a new college may be a difficult transition for incoming freshman. So when I found out about the club fair, I was excited to go check out the extra circular activities that are offered. After looking over all of the options, the club that I chose to join is Actuary Club.
Growing up I was surrounded by doctors, lawyers and accountants, but the real question was, what did I want to be ? Entering Baruch college could be stressful and picking a major even more stressful , but luckily I have the advantage of knowing what I would like to pursue in the future. Actuarial science is a very intricate field that requires an intense amount of studying and patience. After I had attended Actuary Club , I was more informed on the job opportunities in the field and the ways to build myself up. Above all, I was surrounded by students just like me who have aspirations to become successful.
As I had entered the club, the room was overfilled, looking at my friend I was surprised at how many people had wanted to do something that I did. There was an equal divide of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The powerpoint presented was very informative, including information on starting salary and the networking skills required. The team members educated us on how to build a resume and which classes are best to take for this major. After listening to the information provided, I was assured that this field is made for me. I plan on working hard on preparing for the tests while building up my resume for the insurance companies to hire me. Overall, this gave me a chance to really discover what my goals are for my future at Baruch College while increasing my confidence levels.
