Delta Sigma Pi(e)

After going through the undergrad survivor guide given to us at the beginning of the semester, I came across a particular fraternity that interested me. Not only that, but I would see members hanging out together all the time when I walked around the school. This grabbed my attention, so I made an effort to attend one of their GIM meetings. Although it was very late in the afternoon, causing me to miss the train home, in my opinion it was worthwhile going to the meeting. I learned a great deal of information about the frat, many of the things that I was looking for.

I was the first one to arrive there and the members greeted themselves to me and made me feel very much welcomed. While waiting for the meeting to begin, I began talking to this guy that sat next to me. I didn’t get his name, but he told me about what he’s been through to be where he is today. He ended up telling me about these great programs that would help me develop and mature in my field of study. Just before the speakers began, they announced that there was food waiting for the attendees to grab. Everyone grabbed a slice, or two, and found our way to our seats. At this point the conference room was packed out. Soon after the meeting finally began. The speaker started by introducing himself and telling us about the main goals about the frat such as Brotherhood, Professionalism, and Service. I did see how they used all three parts to help them out, however, brotherhood was seemed as most valued. That stats showed a well balance of members between class years to gender ratio, this was a huge plus. At the end of the speaking, two people went up and began to talk about how the frat has changed their lives, didn’t hear nothing too surprising. At the end, they told us to begin networking with the members. Everyone I spoke with told me one good advice, if I want to have a higher chance of getting in I should go around and talk to everyone there.

Although I was dead by the end of the meeting, what I took out of it was worth my time. I’m still unsure if this is the frat I want to be part of, but it’s definitely on my radar!
