Art at MOMA

Abstract Emotions

Recently, I had taken a trip to the Museum of Modern Art. There, I was able to see art in many different forms of interpretation. It made me realize that everything one views, could be viewed completely different by someone else, which is assisting me in my time in Baruch. One of the pieces that I had seen at the museum was an optical illusion. The illusion was different depending on the angle that you had approached the wall at, similar to the way our time is in college. Depending on the way you decide to make it, it will be different and it will change for the way that you let it. If you approached the illusion from the right side, the circles would gradually get smaller which led me to think about how there is a smooth transition in the different stages of life, but when you approached the art from the left side, the circles got smaller, much faster and more drastically. I viewed the left side of the art as the bumps along the way to my future successes. As a whole, it was clear that life is how we make of it and we are in charge of the path to wherever we are heading. Another piece of art work I had noticed was about powerful emotions. It connects to an idea of overcoming problems that we may face on a daily basis. The use of art helps bring out a language that is unseen. The artist, Louise Bourgeois, expressed the tensions of her life, through the art by showcasing her feelings and the way that they played an effect on her artwork. The different strokes, represented the different events and changes. Due to the artwork that I had seen at MOMA, it made me realize that my time in college will be based on the way that I shape it to be.
