Yesterday, I attended the On Campus Recruiting Workshop. This workshop was really meant for me because it discussed things that I need help on, such as creating my own resume in a proper manner, having a good interview, etc. Basically, it taught me things that I will definitely face in the future when I am looking for a job. I need to be able to do all of these specific things correctly in order to make the best impression of myself, and since there’s so much competition, these all really matter. But it wasn’t just the generality of learning how to conduct a good interview or writing a good resume. It actually provided us sources to interview on our campus for internships, and even get full-time jobs with companies in our field. This is an example of when our class discussed how we should make efficient use of Baruch’s resources, and it is best to make use of them now because when we graduate, we won’t have these resources anymore.
Although there were many juniors and seniors in this workshop who already have their major in mind and need to start doing internships, it was reassuring to know that anyone is welcome in this workshop. This workshop provided us freshmen helpful information in what we will have to face junior year.
Sometimes, people think that they know how to properly write their resume or cover letter, or have good interview answers, but it’s not until I attended this workshop that I realized I have a lot to work on.
So overall, this workshop helped me with my first semester because it gave me a heads up on what’s to come in the future, and to be as ahead as possible. These things are a lot more important than they seem.
