On Thursday, 8 August I visited the Finance & Economic Society at Baruch College club during club hours. At the beginning, we were all served with drinks and pizza and following this, we were introduced what FES was and how it functions. The people running FES introduced themselves and told us how beneficial FES was to them and how it can be very beneficial to us if we gave sufficient times towards all the possible tasks we could be getting by joining FES. We found out that the students who run FES have a vast and rich experience in the field of Finance and Economics and have had working experience in the leading financial firms including JP Morgan, we were also told that by joining FES, we would have opportunities to interact with some of the worlds leading businessmen and recruiters from top companies. We were also introduced to a 10-week mentorship program in which we are paired up with someone in our field and this was something that appealed to me greatly as this would basically help me learn the ins and outs of what I want to do in the future. To end off the session, we played a very fun spaghetti game, in which we got into groups of 10 and we had to make the highest spaghetti tower with a marshmallow on top and my group came 3rd out of 5 teams. Overall, after attending the meeting I believe I made the right choice by choosing FES over other clubs as this is a club which could help me greatly in the future due to the potential contacts I could make and the comradery in FES is something I really enjoyed as people who graduated Baruch years ago are still involved with FES, which is very appealing to me.
