VSA CLUB

Attending the club fair to see what clubs Baruch offered, I saw that many of the clubs had to do with business and marketing. Although these clubs would be great for helping us go in the right direction for our future career and major, I wanted something a little less stressful for my first semester of college. While wondering around, my friend and I saw the VSA club and decided to join. Joining this club was a good idea because the environment of the club is very positive and bright. The people within the club are all very welcoming and nice. They make you feel like a family. The first week or two of Baruch I was thinking and talking with my friends that Baruch isn’t a place that’s easy to make long term friends because it’s a CUNY and everyone either goes home or back to their dorms. Being caught in this situation, I thought maybe joining a club can be a way to make friends.

The first meeting that I attended, we talked about the club in general and played an icebreaker sort of game. It was fun because everyone was laughing and just enjoying themselves. The club in a way allows us to open up and do things we may not normally do in our daily lives. For example, playing the games and doing the action of the person prior to us allowed us to just be relaxed and carefree. This experience made me happy and have higher hopes of making friends at Baruch other than those I already know. Furthermore, the second meet we had for the club was a language workshop. We learned how to pronounce popular Vietnamese dishes and basic greetings like hello, thank you, and etc. This day was very entertaining because many were just learning the language and some of our pronunciation was off but that was turned into laughter. VSA gives a positive vibe every time with the members of the club and the newcomers.
