Visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art

My friend Winnie is a half professional photographer and an art lover, so she invited me to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with her on our free time. On last Sunday we decide to go. This isn’t my first time going the museum, but being the road nerd that I always am, I got lost.  We agreed to meet at the step of the main entrance at 1 PM, yet I was almost 30 minutes late. Sorry Winnie.

To apologize, I brought her a cup of coffee and one for myself too, of course. However, I stupidly forgot that the museum does not allow drinks. So we ended up rushing to finish the coffee on the steps. The funniest thing was that Winnie noticed that the sunlight was perfect for pictures and the coffees were great props, but at the time both of our drinks were nearly empty. Scrolling through her camera’s album, all the pictures that we took that include the drink was basically cups of ice.

Walking inside the museum with Winnie was a very quiet and almost awkward experience. I most be honest; I respect art and am amazed by the beautiful art pieces, but I’m am not that interest to study art like Winnie does. She took time in front of almost every single art work to read the caption, to appreciate the artists’ work and to study the meaning of each work. While she was art scholar, I took her camera and helped her took pictures of some of the art pieces so she could study them in the future.

We spent more than 6 hours in the museum, yet we didn’t not walk through the entire museum.  We walked through the sections Modern and Contemporary Art, Art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas and  Greek and Roman Art and another few smaller sections. Towards the end of the visit, I was really hungry; I couldn’t focus on the art around me anymore, all of them seem like food to me. Finally, we left the museum when they were about the close the museum.
