Recently me and my friends a have decided to embark on a journey to the Museum of Modern Art or MoMa. It is an art museum located at midtown Manhattan. Their collection includes modern and contemporary art. When I think of art I think of Greek sculptures or the Renaissance, modern art is not what I think of.
Although I can appreciate the time and effort the artists took in creating the work I do not understand most of it. And I was certainly confused at times when other people seemed to admire the beauty of the art. However some of the exhibits and pieces were really astounding to me and how could someone think of that . Personally I struggle with creating art such as drawing which I am not great at. So I can really appreciate a finely crafted sculpture because that is tremendous more difficult than drawing in my opinion. The museum was also very aesthetically pleasing and there were man other visitors that day.
I would say I preferred the contemporary pieces as the modern pieces felt confusing and over hyped. And our culture has definitely changed so I guess what is considered art changes as well.
