Disclaimer: By allowance from Khin san, I can just use a picture of the email she sent, because I don’t have a picture of the meeting. This is my second meeing too. And don’t mind my politically incorrect joke, if you even got it in the first place that is. Keep this [my blog] from anyone in Student Services…
Right, now then, where do I begin? Let’s start with the amount of people I saw there. You want the quick answer? Well, I could count it with my fingers. The specific answer, I don’t remember, other than that there were three other freshmen besides me. Next, the things we discussed. By request of another member in the room, we did an ice-breaker. What fun, but still I thought it would be a right moment to let them know myself, and what I seeked. Oh how swell my plans were. Simply put it, I was going to mention how I would “take the seat of President one day”. What came out was…far from my goal. “My name is Zay, and my greatest fear is heights”, because, we instead discussed our greatest fears. Even worse off, my pride was being sipped away at every moment. Every single time I’d try and open my mouth, another person twice as loud would begin speaking. I mean no offense, but it was quite literally a howling fest. Or, perhaps it was me who didn’t speak loud enough. Whatever. Anyhow, we eventually got to the topic, which were planning the events. At the time of this meeting, our beloved advisor, forgot her name, was unable to attend, and therefor her trusty assistants, Khin and this other girl, filled in. Blah blah blah, event dates, participation numbers, prizes. Last thing I remembered offering was a name for the lyp-syncing contest. You won’t hear it here in this blog though. Ah what the hell, I offered the name “Synchrony”, because of Sync in Lip-sync, and then symphony. A clever play on with words if I may say so myself, but you couldn’t care less. The meeting ended early, if 7:00 pm is early for you, and I was left with a damaged pride, and a smile on my face. Whether that smile was real or fake, I could not tell you. But, it’s not them. They’re great people, Khin and the other girl were wonderful leaders, deserving of Erica’s trust to handle the meeting. And Ryan, one of the longest lasting members of the team is certainly a role model, though envious I am that i could not make a name for myself, yet. A great storm will reveal a peaceful aftermath. Or so it is in the sea. I shall stick by my philosophy of ‘a better tomorrow’, and hope that actions will speak louder than words.
