I was able to attend an ANY Information session, which is a program that specializes in the professional acceleration of students through the use of mentors, networking and educational events. The program is tailored to help underfunded, first generation students who are looking to advance themselves. The event started off with a current fellow who explained to use the application process as well as some of the different opportunities this program can provide. The event that progressed into a panel with current fellows and their mentors. They each answered questions and explained their different experiences and how they have grown because of the program. The event ended with a networking session in which we were able to speak to the heads of the program as well as the other people participating in the event.

Academic Event (Museum of Natural History)
I had the pleasure of visiting the American Museum of Natural History where I was able to discover the different ecological environment the past that have developed throughout the years. The museum was filled with amazing exhibits from the mummies to the butterfly conservatory. One exhibit that stood out to me the most was the American Bison exhibit which demonstrated the a prairie in Wyoming in the mid 1800’s which was filled with Bison and wildlife. This was meant to demonstrate how the once proud Bison had roamed North America but were brought close to extinction due to Native American as well as European Pioneers who over hunted the mammal for food, sport and their valuable hides. It was extremely disheartening to see know how this once majestic creature no longer roams the plains. Bison were eventually domesticated and brought back from the brink of extinction behind the fences of a farm. The presence of humans has always had adverse affects on the ecological systems we occupy. This visit allowed me to learn about this history of this animal as well helped me to understand the importance of conservation in the environment to preserve the beauty of nature.
Delta Sigma Pi
On September 12th, I attended the brother panel Delta Sigma Pi even which consisted of current member of the co-ed business frat talking about their experience with the frat along with the work experience they have had. Many of them had wondered into a Delta Sigma Pi GIM event early on in their college career not expecting to go as far as they did in their professional career. This was very inspirational to me because they all had this strong work ethic which had brought them to all this great internships. It was also interesting to hear how their internship experience helped them to pick their major because it allowed to get their feet wet in that specific field. This gave them a general idea of what they liked and what they wanted to pursue. They all gave great advice in terms of how we should approach looking for jobs, how we should spend our time wisely, and how beneficial DSP can be in ones friendships and professional lives. All in all, this event was extremely informative and made me really passionate about wanting to join this businesses frat.
