Freshman Seminar Fall 17 DWC

Blog Post #2 – Student Life

Ever since I got admitted to college, I knew I would want to get involved on campus in some sort of way. Since I want to major in Management of Musical Enterprises, NYMIA (The Music Industry Club of Baruch) was the perfect club for me. The very first general interest meeting, which was on September 7th, was quite awkward for me, because I didn’t know anybody, but that quickly changed. On September 14th we met up to get to know each other better at the Musicians Mixer and it was the perfect way to erase all doubt and awkwardness. Even though most people listened to different genres than me and had a completely different relationships with music, it was still great to meet people interested in the same field as me (especially at a business oriented school like Baruch). The latest meeting I attended was the Internship Panel on October 5th. I got to learn a lot about the industry and how to approach getting an internship (which is required for me to graduate), but I also got to reconnect with a lot of new friends I made in the club. I can’t wait for the next meetings and I definitely see myself staying and actively participating in the activities the club offers!

Blog Post #1 – Career

I visited the Starr Career Development Center in between my classes. I thought it was very interesting and a great center to have at a school. I spoke with some of the people there and I was amazed as to how professional they all were. I read over my resume as I was there and I was think of all the things I can add onto it because of Starr. After that, I began to get excited about all the opportunities they offer. It was also very cool to hear about all the alumni and the paths they go on after attending Baruch. After my visit, I knew for sure that I was in good hands with the Starr Career Development Center at Baruch.
