I went to a Citrin Cooperman business starters meeting for freshman, as I had seen them recruiting in Baruch. I signed up and they had the meeting like 2 weeks ago. There they had food, drinks, and plenty of stations to learn more about the company and the work they provide. They had programs to learn more about making a resume, learning how to communicate, and how to prepare for an internship. They gave us a tour of the building showing us how people work, and how the company is like a family. It really opened my eyes on the career i want to pursue because it seems like something I would do; waking up every morning, getting dressed in a suit and going to my desk job with people who are diverse. I met a lot of people from other schools, and I feel like I would love to work for the company, seeing as I met the CEO and he offered me the opportunity of working as soon as I took my accounting classes.

I highly recommend getting yourself affilated with a company, as they love to see freshamn progress throughout the year, as this is what they told me. They requested my highschool GPA, my current classes, my SAT scores and an essay. It was a great experience overall.

I took a whole day out of my busy life, to join the Albanian Club. It all started when I was walking to class, specifically walking up the stairs from the lobby to the second floor, where I saw a female holding my flag and screaming “Albanian Club”. Myself being a very patriotic Albanian, I decided to ask what this was all about. This curiosity of mine was the reason I was forced to join. This club meets every first Thursday of every month.

When Thursday came, the first general interest meeting, I walked myself to the 10th floor. I entered the room where the meeting was held, full of shock, I walk into a room full of Albanians…. All together… in one room… This was going to be interesting. They started off by playing an icebreaker, which you can see in the photo below. Then they played Albanian music and talked about the culture. Then we had food, not traditional food because of Baruch’s budget. Then they had a show of the Albanian traditional dance, which I didn’t participate in because it didn’t seem professional to me. Overall, my experience with the Albanian club was interesting because I meet a lot of new people, not only Albanian. I see these people around campus a lot, which makes Baruch feel more like home

FRO BLOG POST 1 ( Academic )

FRO,

Hi my name is Freskim Noka, and my first exploration of Baruch was to the Writing Center which was located on the 8th floor(Room 185), where I believe I will be spending a majority of my time, being that I am not the greatest writer… Throughout my visit to the writing center, I met the student assistant, whom if I remember clearly was named Sandy. She sat down with me and explained to me the benefits of taking advantage of the writing center. These advantages included understanding assignments, creating drafts to brainstorm ideas, developing a thesis statement, and just general help in writing assignments. The people there seemed to be passionate about the work that they do, and confident that they could help the student that need help. The writing center in general helps students develop better and college level writing skills, in all aspects. I learned that if you attend the writing center for help, the aids there document your participation and inform your professor that you used the writing center for their papers. I also noticed that many professors recommend using the help provided by the writing center.

P.S- Im sorry but it was to awkward to ask Sandy for a selfie…
