Freshman Seminar Fall 17 LC16

Blog Post #2 STUDENT LIFE

Last month, I went a health event during the suicide prevention week. Mohtaz went with me and he also took this picture, so props to him for helping me out during this difficult time. Anyhow, I went to the event which was in a small room. There was a grand total of roughly 3 or 4 people so it was very exciting. The meditator explained how meditating has helped her life and we all tried it. She made us close our eyes and she kept telling us to focus on our breath. Honestly, I was pretty anxious even prior to this event and I was hoping that this would help. I repeatedly fell asleep during the session and I woke up whenever she said “focus on your breath”. When she finally told us to open our eyes, I was dazed from my semi-nap but I did feel quite relaxed. The relaxation didn’t last long after I left the room, but perhaps this is something I should try to do more often daily.
