Sales Are Colossal, Shares Are Soaring. All Amazon.com Is Missing Is a Profit.

This article is about Amazon.com and how it is taking on new business ventures even though it is losing money. Amazon’s stock is at a record high yet it continues to lose money.  I never would have thought that a  company as big as Amazon would be losing money. Amazon seems to be always growing because you can buy literally everything on Amazon. It also surprises me that Amazon continues to take on new business ventures even though it is losing money

Man Trades Elmo Costume for a Jail Suit

This article was about how the man that was arrested for harassing New York tourists while dressed up in an Elmo suit, was sentenced to jail for trying to extort 2 million dollars from the Girl Scouts. The man, Dan Sandler, refused to apologize to the girl scouts because he thinks that they are a “corrupt organization.” Sandler pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted grand larceny and third degree stalking. He tried to blackmail the Girl Scouts by threatening to spread a false story that the Girl Scouts regularly arranged sexual encounters for men and its campers if he did not get the money. It is obvious that this guy is mentally disturbed. He should go to a mental hospital to try and get help so he doesn’t hurt anyone.

Netflix Hits Milestone and Raises Its Sights

Netflix has been doing really well with the amount of subscribers that they are obtaining. More subscribers equals more money for the company.  I am a subscriber to Netflix too so I was not surprised when there were about 40 million worldwide subscribers to Netflix. The subscription is cheap ($7.99) and once you subscribed you get to watch almost anything you want. The reason it has been successful is mainly because of the new T.V. series like Orange is the New Black. However, they are conflicted with whether they can keep adding subscribers by the millions to keep shareholders happy. To answer that question, the shareholders were indeed happy with Netflix’s third-quater results, the company’s stocks nearly tripled this year. This was a big deal to them because they never thought they would be able to make so much so quickly. On the other hand, they still have competition with others, such as HBO. It is harder because HBO had a head start, but Netflix is getting there.

Club Fair at Baruch!

The Baruch Club Fair took place in the gymnasium during club hours on Thursday, October 3, 2013. This was an opportunity for clubs to set up and recruit new members into their club. This allowed the students to have the opportunity to see the different clubs that Baruch has to offer. The fair was very organized and attracted a lot of people with the music and the free things some of the clubs were giving out. The gym was quickly packed with a lot of eager and curious new students. Adam and I were also excited to see what clubs were there that day, even though we had in mind some of the clubs that we wanted to join already. Jeffery was excited about the free things he was getting in some of the club stands. I saw a lot of interesting and different clubs, such as the Anime Club and Archery Club, verses the business/professional based clubs, such as the Women in Business Club and the Accounting Club. This displayed the vast amount of varieties of clubs that Baruch has to offer.

Religion in Classrooms! Now I don’t think so.

Picture yourself sitting in a Hebrew Class and learning not only about the culture but also the religion. Recently a charter school which is funded by federal funds like any other public school, in San Antonio, Texas did just  that.

Wind, Solar, Hydro, now Jelly-fish?

Wherever we look in the current day, we can see either wind turbines, solar panels or the use of hydro-power such as in Niagara Falls. But what about jelly-fish? These problematic and stingy creatures have lead the  US Navy to conduct research on how jelly-fish propel themselves without using much of their energy. This concept could pioneer the future for marine propulsion or even economically efficient cars.
