Journal #17

  1. An outer obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is the lack of time I have to study due to being busy.
  2. Someone who could help me overcome this outer obstacle is a counselor.
  3. How this person could help me is by showing me ways that I can open up my schedule and implement just enough studying time.
  4. An inner obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is doubting myself.
  5. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this inner obstacle is a friend that may have gone through the same condition.
  6. How this person could help me is by encouraging me to go with my gut feeling and try to at least participate once in every class that I have these doubts in.
  7. The most challenging course I’m taking in college this semester is Pre-Calculus.
  8. This course is challenging for me because it is hard to just do the same one-by-one step process for questions that are in the same section but are set up differently.
  9. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this challenge is a math tutor.
  10. How this person could help me is by going over multiple examples from each section until I can sort of master it.

In order to create a stronger support system for myself in college I could,

  1. Not doubt myself because I could be right
  2. Ask for help in any way possible because it just might better me

Journal Entry #12

  1. I will be the first one in my family to graduate college.
  2. Hard-working, loving, organized, intelligent, humble, relaxed, focused, determined, outspoken, independent
  3. Hard-working, independent and outspoken
  4. Format A: I am a hard-working, determined and independent woman.

Format B: I am a hard-working, determined and independent woman, overcoming obstacles to any extent in order to reach my dreams.

Format C: I am a hard-working, determined and independent woman, and I will make my mother proud.

  1. I am a hard-working, determined and independent woman, overcoming obstacles to any extent in order to reach my dreams.
  2. The first quality from my affirmation is hard-working. A specific experience in my life when I demonstrated that quality was during my senior year of high school. I always stayed focused on my classwork, stayed after class to finish up my essays instead of go home, be of assistance to my teachers and regulate the after-school activities. It was all about school the majority of my time.

The second quality from my affirmation is determined. A specific experience in my life when I demonstrated that quality was during my senior year of high school. In my school we had the Levie Awards, which was like talent show and I was the manager and host. Even though a lot of people had doubts that it would not be good and wouldn’t finish, I pushed my self during lunch, breaks and after school to make this unforgettable.

The third quality from my affirmation is independent. A specific experience in my life when I demonstrated that quality was during my senior year of high school. Throughout high school I never relied on anyone to help me succeed and achieve my diploma but myself. Everything I did, I did it by myself with little to no help. If anything, I was the one my friends looked for when they needed help with their work.

  1. After analyzing my time I realized that I balance the urgent and important with the not urgent and not important. The activities in Quadrant 2 only apply for this week due to midterms. Therefore, I spend most of my time in Quadrants 1 & 4. The fact that the hours of quadrant 1 and 4 could add up to a whole day potentially makes me realize that these are the 2 Quadrants I take the time to consider throughout the day. If I continue to use my time this way, I feel I could reach my goals and dreams. I never want to be consumed by work and school to the point where I lose out on my fun of what life could bring me. In fact, I don’t feel it is the right time to take purposeful actions such as towards my career at this point. I have to feel I can manage my time with school and jump starting internships and jobs towards my career and even clubs before I can take purposeful actions. But, at the time I am at now I feel the best thing to do would be to focus on how much time I would need to have to greatly apply effort in school and then broaden myself with the opportunities Baruch has to offer.
