Monologue

I don’t know for sure why I love playing live. The sudden urge to go to the bathroom was always a constant, it never really ever subsided until we floored into our groove. The rush was never what people say it is. The adrenaline never slaps you in the face. Only idiots say that music invigorates before its cathartic to us musicians. When we played every night was a fight to express the same solid emotion. Every night was the attempt to create a connection to us as a group, and if you’re lucky then you’ll make a deep and lovely connection to what we make. The jumping around, flinging of instruments, frenzied dance of musicians at work, attacking the strings and drums like we’re arguing passionately for something very personal, that is what a real concert is like, pure energy.

It’s something that can’t be justified rationally, the bad food, bad drinks, and bad sleep because of the constant driving. After awhile you become a driving zombie because you’ve been on the road for four hours in traffic moving at the slowest pace in the world, and it’s been more than three hours since your fourth coffee, no bathroom in sight. Cities like Philadelphia become second homes. Queens and The Bronx becomes your backyard because you’ve lost your way driving that many times over there. The gear takes a beating or two, you lose track of the number of scratches on the head plate of your amp. You end up with guitar and keyboard cables that aren’t yours and a laptop switch because two bands use the same model. I could never leave it; neither could any other real musician because past all the nonsense, it is an awesome experience, sometimes with great crowds and new family.

To Cheat or not to Cheat…where are the answers?!

Ethical. You hear people talk about it, you hear people use it in everyday language, you hear people lecture you about it, but what does it really mean? To get a somewhat of a  formal and informal answer, I decided to look up the definition from two sources, dictionary.com and urbandictionary. com. According to dictionary.com, ethics are “a system of moral principles; moral principles as that of an individual”. Then, I looked up individual from the same website which defined an individual as “a single human being, as distinguished from a group”. So what this definition tells us about ethics is what a person, in their views, thinks is right or wrong. The definition from urbandictionary.com says that ethics is “morality with loopholes”. Not everyone share the same morals, if any at all. So what you think is right versus wrong may not be what I think is right or wrong. But when we talk to people about doing the ethical deed, we do not necessarily guide a person to the wrong path, rather when we speak of morals and ethics, we talk about what we should do, even if that means sacrificing something that will help you accomplish a goal for yourself.

So when the topic of whether someone should cheat on an exam versus fail and exam is a very challenging question towards morality. You might think it would be best to not cheat on an exam and fail without question, or you might have that slight chance of barely passing, if not acing it with flying colors knowing you cheated. It all depends on the person and what you feel the right thing to do would be. It does not necessarily make someone unethical if you  decide to cheat, since the word is clearly defined by what you feel would be the right thing to do, not defined by the general “good” of something. I feel when someone often sees you with morals that clash with their own, they take it upon themselves as a way to correct that and influence you to share their views. My simple statement would be to be straight to the point and tell someone to not do something because it is just plain and simple wrong.

I, however, remain polarized on the subject of whether to cheat on a subject or not because everyone has a reason as to why they do the things they do and ultimately, everyone tries to reach for the top.

monologue assignment

If I could chose to be any super hero I would chose to  be  one of the Power Puff girls.  I would chose  one of the power puff girls because it reminds me a lot of me and my 2 sisters. In my household I have two siblings who at times could be very annoying but they are definitely someone that I could count on .  Just like the power puff girls, who argue, sometimes even play pranks at each other but at the end of the day they unite to save the world. Me and my sisters do not necessarily unite to save the world but we definitely do it for a good cause, or at least a good cause for us . Either it is cleaning the house because my mom is coming home or just throwing a party for fun .  As much as we argue or pretend not to like each other, it is no doubt that we cover each others flaws and even our naughtiness. just like the power puff girls we each have our different personalities. I would consider myself to be butter cup. As the middle child I could say I grew up very strong minded. I tell my sisters what needs to be said and do not keep anything back. my little sister could be considered bubbles. bubbles is very sweet and just very girly . Although my little sister is the farthest thing from sweet she is hands down very petite and self caring person. and of course my big sister. my big sister could be considered blossom. blossom is the leader of the pact. although we don’t always let her be the leader of the pact.  at the end of the day, like the power puff girls, me  and my sisters come together when ever we need to. i also chose the power puff girls because i thought it would be really cool to fly.
