College is the starting point. It’s a big deal. Once I was on campus for the first time, it was an eye opener. Something you should know is that no matter the age or background the fact you were admitted to college means you are identified as “college material”. This means you should be able to pass your classes and earn a degree as long as you make a reasonable effort. I’m excited to be here and ready to begin my college career. I still feel nervous about college. Now that I’m finally here, I do wonder from time to time if i can make it through. Once classes started I had to hit the ground running, oddly said, because there is no one that keeps track of me in school. It’s been great because of the many chances to meet new people, have interesting discussions but more importantly have control of my life. That is something I find the most difficult to handle. College has this new found freedom. Because there is so much of it, we don’t usually know how to handle it very well. We notice we put alot of time in things we want to do rather than things we should do. Most of my efforts went into trying to figure out how to adequately budget my time whether it was school, work or social aspects. I saw this first semester as a balancing scale. I know its odd?! But, I think balance is important in life. As much as academics are important, staying mentally, spiritually and physically fit is too.
