The past three months in Baruch has been quite exciting. I met a lot of people and made new friends. So far the classes are going pretty good and finals are coming up. I can’t wait for summer to come though. Even though the first semester has been hectic, classes are over tomorrow and after the finals we got no school till August.

The past three months in Baruch has been quite exciting. I met a lot of people and made new friends. So far the classes are going pretty good and finals are coming up. I can’t wait for summer to come though. Even though the first semester has been hectic, classes are over tomorrow and after the finals we got no school till August.

My first semester at Baruch was full of choices. When I entered I thought I knew what I wanted to major in but as the weeks went by I started to rethink my choice. Since I was little I always remember saying I wanted to become a teacher so I decided to switch my major. Unfortunately, Baruch does not offer what I want so I will be transferring in the fall. I think that starting my college experience at Baruch was a wonderful experience. I got to meet cool people and get a sense of what’s going to be the “college life”. Our Freshman Seminar class was really helpful in doing so. We got to discuss the different programs at Baruch and got to speak with an adviser. I remember in class we talked about time management and stress and that’s how I felt most of the semester. I did not know I am such a procrastinator! Most of my stress was the result of leaving things to the last minute and then having so much to do at the end. Now I know why time management is very important if I want to succeed academically. Overall, I really enjoyed my classes and will definitely not forget my first semester in college.

From using FOCUS 2, it showed me some things I already know about myself and my career paths and I learned a few new things. Perhaps the most surprising was how accurate it was and the amount of careers I was able to choose from ranging from the sciences, math, and business, with salaries in between 50k to 113k. It didn’t really change what I want to do but brought up something I did want to really do, which was engineering but at the moment I have many paths and much flexibility before deciding more into college of my career; one day maybe if the circumstances come I’ll change my career idea again but for the moment it just showed me what I can do. Once again it showed who I was and what was suitable for me, so in using in Focus 2 it kind of reassures me and gives me confidence in the success I may have in the future. I just need to be a bit more prepared with my planning and so forth, but overall was nice to know the information it gave me.

Hi I’m Wasek. I just came to New York on January and so far I’m liking it here. Although it’s a bit different from where I’m from it’s not that bad. I think I’m going to major in accounting. I compose music when I get time to myself and I play the guitar.
