My Final Post – Kevin Huynh

Yes, Stupid people everywhere. It’s actually kind of weird when saying that about people who are in college, an institution for higher learning, but this is how I felt for a portion of my start here at Baruch. It most likely has to do with the age difference. Now not all older people are “wiser” than younger people but I would say that I am. I’ve been there and done that. But as the semester progress and I continued to learn more about the people around me as well as learn from them, it began to change my thoughts. These people aren’t so stupid after all and perhaps the stupid one…is me. Hopefully every semester to pass will be as great as this first one and I’ll be ready to tackle all the new challenges. Oh and along the way hopefully meet more “stupid” people.

Blog Numero 2

I believe learning more about the people around you is a good thing for oneself. From learning about them, one can also discover something new about themselves. For myself, I found myself  a bit envious of Shaloma and Katheryn. Both of them had pictures that demonstrated how close they were to their immediate family, which I liked a lot. I found it amazing that Katheryn made a video for her parent’s anniversary. I don’t even know the date my parent’s got married. I would say I’m pretty distant from my mother. Now not to say I’m disrespectful to her or anything because I do respect her and love her but I know next to nothing about her. Family pictures as well stopped cold turkey once I was in middle school. It’s funny because I had plenty of pictures when I was a baby until 5th grade then none afterwards. So I always like to see people that are happy for their parents and are close to them.

Most surprising thing in any of the blogs was in Larry’s blog. His first line made me laugh because he sounded like an old man hating on the music of the new age. Then he broke to Vitamin C’s song, which means, I’m just assuming from the context of the song, you either started appreciating music after middle school or after high school. But I’m glad you were able to get out from under the rock you were living in though. I’m just kidding. Music is a beautiful thing Larry. .

Kevin’s Music Playlist

FRO Playlist

This is the playlist that I came up with that I felt shows who I am. The first track is an obvious joke. The reasons I chose the song as my introduction is to show that I’m a funny guy or at least I think I am and of course that I’m Asian. An introduction can’t get any better than that. Limp Bizkit’s song “Counterfeit” is to express my hate for fake people. I can’t stand people who don’t think for themselves and just fall in line to follow. The way I interpret Nelly Furtado’s song is to be free. I don’t want to allow myself to be confine and not do what I would like to do. ”What’s My Age Again?” shows my attitude towards rushing life and worrying over everything. I’m a pretty laid-back kind of guy. There’s plenty of time for everything. Don’t set a cap in your life to do things or act a certain way because that’s just what is done. Of course I want to be free and do what I like without being told but will I be able to? That’s the reason I chose Nine Inch Nails’ “The Hand That Feeds.” I often find myself thinking whether I’d be able to break the mold and be able to survive off of doing what I want or would I have to fall in line and take from the hand that feeds. I’m a tough person physically, mentally and emotionally. It’s hard for me to break down in any of those aspects thus my reason for choosing “Warrior” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I don’t give in very easily and I’ll struggle until I persevere and that is what makes me a warrior. “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” expresses how I feel about love. Everyone wants to be in love. Love is an extraordinary thing. Being in love will make you feel a wide range of emotions and even make you do some crazy things  from time to time. And “Lovesong” by The Cure displays my faithfulness if I were ever to be in love. I believe people should be able to control their “love” and stay faithful but, as we all know, it doesn’t happen all to often. I’ve been faithful for 3 and 1/2 years in a long distance relationship so why can’t people do it in a normal relationship. Everyone has a dark side to them. Some people let it out all the time and some people don’t. As laid back as I am, I can get pretty angry and let the animal inside loose at times. That is my reason for placing Slipknot’s “Liberate” on my playlist.  The last song I chose is dedicated to all those in the FRO class. Ke$ha’s “Dirty Love” is for that oh so “kinky” part of me that all of you discovered. – With love “Kinky” Kevin
