Career Planning
I was all over the place in what was going to be my major, but now that I have taken the assessment test I am a little more sure about what I am going to do. Still, I am not once hundred percent sure. The tests told me that I was interested in Arts and Social matters, something that I already knew, but also told me that I am not very realistic, so I have to consider that. I have been having the doubt of whether or not Journalism and Psychology were good major, and now that the assessment test have told me that they are both good for me, i am going to have a less hard time deciding which one of them to pick. What I also liked is that the tests give you job option. It said that I should be a broadcaster, something I can definitely see myself doing, or a career counselor, something i am interested about to. Choreographer was another option, but I have no idea how the test got that, since I do not know how to dance and they did not ask me that. Still, I am happy I took the tests, they were very accurate and gave me the responds i already knew, kind of.

Art Gallery
The Mishkin art gallery was interesting. I was aware of the existence of the gallery because many of my friends told me, but I did not visit it until I had to, because of this assignment. I liked many of the pictures but I did not find anything interesting or unique about them, of course that does not mean they were not beautiful, but I do not have a very good sense of judgement in paintings, I prefer music or motion pictures. Still, it is amazing to think of the talent of the painters, especially Zhang Hui, I do not remember the name of the painting but the amount of time and dedication that painting must have taken, just to think about it, it’s amazing. The details in every picture are overwhelming and amazing, I cannot imagine myself taking the time and having the patience to paint like that, and even if I wanted to I do not have the talent. Visiting the gallery opened my eyes in many ways because I used to think paintings were rushed and did not take time, but now that I saw it up close it was amazing to see the characteristics and shapes of the images.

Career Planning
I do not have a complete action plan as yet. So far, I know I want to graduate from Baruch with a Bachelor in Business Administration. These self-assessments showed me a lot about myself, most I already knew. I learned that I am a social person who enjoys listening to people as much as I enjoy talking to them. I work extremely well with others and motivate them. I am also good at managing money, reasoning, and problem solving. These results didn’t alter my career choices because I don’t have a definite career choice. My mind is open to many career options that I can put my skills to use, especially my money management skill. Participating in these assessments showed me what I should look into based on my interests. It also gave me new options that I never really thought of. After taking these assessments, I now know what steps I need to take to plan my future and get what i want in life.

Career Planning
I enjoy listening to people as much as I enjoy talking to them. I like to help people with their problems. I found out that self-assessment is the most important first step in career planning. My choice of major and career goals did not change after the self-assessment. The results showed that I was more social than anyone would have thought and it showed that I had a bright future being a financial planner. There were no drastic changes from the results I have received. Participating in FOCUS 2 helped clarify a future direction for myself. I became more sure about wanting to work with a group of people and not be alone, but be independent as well.

Career Planning
I plan to graduate from Baruch College with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. I currently major in business management with a concentration in entrepreneurship. I plan to start my own business and become a self-made multi-billionaire philanthropist. I have learned a great deal about myself through the self- assessments which I took the FOCUS 2 website. I learned that I like to focus on the people around me and have harmonious interactions with them. I learned that I am sociable and when I work with others I motivate them to participate. I learned that I am a leader, I recognize and appreciate the talents in other people and I do my best to help them reach their full potential. The self-assessments only fortified my choice of major and career goals, making me excited for the bright future ahead of me. The results didn’t reflect any change from what I had planned for myself. I always loved business and being a leader and the results only showed me that the business world is exactly where I need to be. My participation in FOCUS 2 helped me clarify my future direction for myself by showing me that I am on the right track for the career I always saw myself fulfilling.

I have always been a energetic and social person to talk to. That is what made being a waiter for the past three years so easy for me. I have also always enjoyed math, money, and numbers. By doing the focus 2 assignment I have learned that I need to pursue a career that has a constant level of communication and interaction with others however this job also must possess numbers, assessments, and analyzing of money or involve math in some way. I have done plenty of these “career” assignments already, especially in high school, so my results were not surprising to me. I have always been told to stick with numbers because that is what I am good at. Hopefully I do and it all pays off in the end.

Self Assessment and Career Planning
Unlike many people, making quick and smart decisions was always easy to me. Yes, before making a decision, I stop and think about the consequence of the choice I’m going to make but once I made that choice, I always stick to it. However, choosing a college and a major is a quite difficult task and even more so for a starting freshman.
I never thought I would come to Baruch. Studying Business was never my aim. I wanted to study medicine but unavoidable situations brought me to Baruch and now that I’m here, I like it. But liking the college is one thing and finding a major that I actually like is quite a different matter. But after spending a few months in here, I now know that I have to study business. Not because of any pressure or anything but some arcane instinct within me is telling me to get a business degree. For once in my life I’m going to study something that I want.
The assessments in the Focus 2 program told me that I have a high level of self consciousness; I know what I want to do with my life. I want to Major in Business Management and I’m confidant I’ll be good with it.

Health and Wellness
The Health and Wellness Enrichment workshop was very informative. I have already been to many of the meditation sessions Megan gives, but I have never known that many factors can influence stress as we go along college. I personally have struggled with anxiety my whole life and being able to accept that had helped me a lot. I did not know you could do little relaxation exercises while you are in the class or in the bus. Knowing the different factors of stress and what it can lead to is making me think about my methods of study and also how much I give to my college experience. Just breathing and relaxing can liberate you from the inevitable pressure of the homework and midterms, so yes, it was very helpful.

The Mishkin art gallery was very interesting. I didn’t know the school had an art gallery until I went with my freshman orientation class. It was very close and we don’t have to pay to enter. The paintings were nice and interesting. I liked the painting of the movements of the people. I do not remember the name, but the painting only had lines and nothing else. The lines showed the movements of the people who were in the original painting. The painting told a story and we had different views of the paintings. It was a nice time to not think about school. The atmosphere is like any other art gallery.

The Health and Wellness Enrichment workshop was very relaxing. It was informative. They showed us powerpoints as they were talking. They spoke about how to relieve stress and what to do to reduce stress. Stress can cause strokes and heart attacks. We learned how to measure our levels of stress. They handed out a worksheet that measured our stress levels and if we were if category A or B. Yoga and simple stretches helps us relax. We watched a video that was a short a clip of Kung Fu Panda and Happy Gilmore. After the workshop we received stress balls and a pens. Closing your eyes and breathing in and out also helps you relax. We should have time for ourselves to not be too stressful. There are good stress and bad stress.
