I have not a clue

Posted by sh167454 on April 1, 2014

As I sit in Newman library, the day before this assignment is due, I have not a clue what to write about. A monologue? I know exactly what that is. I perform them all the time on stage. That’s what I do. But to write my own? About something that pertains to my life? I have not a clue how to start. Not a clue.

I often find myself playing the parts of others for an audience. Reading over scripts, memorizing them, and portraying a completely different person. Scripts that have already been written for me. Innocent daughters, psychopaths and even “that person who breaks out into song for no apparent reason” are who I’m used to being. Not myself. I just can’t seem to do that. So for me to write something for myself to perform? And expose my feelings or experiences in front of the whole class? That’s something I have not a clue about. Not a clue.

So what exactly should I write about? My childhood? Life changes? Relationships? I could do that, but I wouldn’t know where to begin. So as you can see, before even attempting to write the monologue, I have a million questions. Who are these questions for? I have not a clue. So how can I answer these questions? I have not a clue.

So I’m sitting in the Newman Library, still contemplating how I can write a monologue to submit. And all at once… I realize I already did. So this is my monologue. What’s it about? I have not a clue.

Why am I here?

Posted by kw166555 on March 26, 2014

I graduated from High School 7 years ago. I had been self-employed since my 18th birthday. I traveled all over the world and even lived in Dubai for a while. Once that part of the world got boring I moved to New York. Since then I had been working not only on my own business, which I sold, but also started managing a Security company. I made a lot of money and it was my Job to travel the world. I think about the reasons why I decided to become a full time student almost everyday. Since I started school I only traveled twice, making this the longest time I stayed in one place. Even though I am still working, I don’t make nearly the same amount of money I did before. So why am I here? Even though I accomplished a lot in the past few years, one thing had been missing. Something I haven’t had for a very long time. A routine! I actually really enjoy knowing that I will be at the same place from Monday-Thursday. I like that for a change I don’t always have to tell people where to be when and what to do. School is way easier then the world out there. Even though school requires me to work hard everyday without any pay, I enjoy being a student. I enjoy not having to be in charge, because trust me, the real world does not give you 4 excused absences.
