Blog Assignment 1: Ekaterina Saltykova

These songs inspire, motivate, empower me, give me energy to go forward, make me happy, and sometimes nostalgic. It is so hard to choose, there are so many of them. Blog Assignment 1: Ryan Huang

I’m Ryan and this is my playlist:

Sum41- Hell Song

Sum41- Still Waiting

All American Rejects- It Ends Tonight

Sick Puppies- You’re Going Down

Three Days Grace- Never Too Late

The Offspring- You’re gonna go far kid

30 Seconds To Mars- This is War

The Wanted- Glad You Came

Trapt- Headstrong

YUI- Rolling Star

I was born here in New York. Never really went out of country. I’ve picked these songs because they are what I picked up from being around other people. Never really liked music all that much, but it’s nice to use as background noise. I use music as a means of drowning out other distractions. I also don’t have much to share about myself…

Blog Assignment 1: Felipe Arosa de Sousa

Hello, I’m Felipe Arosa de Sousa and this is my playlist:

Ben Harper – With My Own Two Hands

The Beatles- We Can Work It Out

Blur – Song 2

Foo Fighters- Best of you

Foo Fighters- Times Like These

Jack Johnson- Home

Jack Johnson – Only The Ocean And Me

Jason Mraz – Living in the moment

Lenny Kravitz- Fly Away

Pennywise – Bro Hymn Tribute

I am from Brazil and I think some of these songs can represent the change I am experiencing now that I live in the US. Soccer and surfing are my favorite sports and I really miss them.  There are many other things that I miss, but I am enjoying my time quite a lot and I would not go back if could.  Getting out of the comfort zone is very important for me and I guess some of these songs can relate to that. Some songs can relate to the way I see things.  In conclusion, music taste can tell a lot about a person and these are songs that I like, and some happen to describe somewhat what I am going through.

Clueless

I really have don’t get what the blog post is supposed to do so I’m just gonna post some music I happen to like.

1) Layla – Eric Clapton. Great rifts.

2) King for a Day – Green Day.

3) Feeling Good – Muse. Best Rock cover of a Jazz song !

4) Achtung  Baby (The whole Album) – U2. My favorite band.

5) Carry on my Wayward Son – Kansas. If you watch Supernatural you’ll understand why this song is the best.

6) Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen. He’s the boss !

7) Are you Gonna be my Girl – Jet. Gotta love the aussies

8) Here comes the sun – Beatles – Dodododo, Here comes the sun,  and I say. It’s all right.

9) Lithium – Nirvana. Cuz grunge beats metal any day !

10) Pretty fly for a white guy – Offspring. <insert joke here>

HAHAHHAAHA I hope this list does some kind of good. Any metal heads bother reading this I stand by number 9. Enjoy !

As with all good music come interpretation. Therefor from how you see me everyday all should be able to infer more then I could possibly write in words; well – that and the fact that I feel that being forced to post more information then I have to online is ridiculous.  Yes I am stubborn and I listen to punk rock and grunge – what a cliché-. Well I guess that says a lot. If your wondering why clapton is up their to I’m a guitarist and clapton is the king at rhythm – by the way, if your thinking that a sarcastic guitarist is a cliché to your catching on.

Blog Assignment 1: Tony Shing Siu Sze

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xl0iz8dlHM&feature=youtu.be

Hey guys! I’m Tony Shing Siu Sze and in Chinese, my name is 施承兆. I was born and raised in Hong Kong. My life is divided into many parts just like the photos in the video.

Hong Kong is known as a modern city but it’s more than. I love discovering the little known side of Hong Kong. When people go shopping and watching movies, I go hiking and cycling. When people get crazy about the night view, I am enjoying the sunset on an island. The forgotten side of Hong Kong is always shining aside the colorful, magnificent and crowded metropolis.

I have a younger brother. His name is Jayden. He was the doppelganger of me, when we were young and fat. It takes me some time to figure out which one is myself and which one is my brother in some old photos. We’ve spent 16 years together before I left Hong Kong. We sleep in the same room. We play soccer together. We share our food and thus, valuable memory together.

Soccer has always been my favorite sport. I fell in love with soccer after watching the World Cup 2002. My favorite soccer club is Barcelona and my favorite player is Xavi, who is a pass-first playmaker. In my opinion, he’s the most important part of Barcelona’s Tiki-taka.

I love food too. Since I was born Hong Kong, seafood is always one of my favorites. Also, spicy food is my craving. Last but not least, I love Hotpot, which is a Chinese dish that claimed to be invented by Genghis Khan’s Chief.

Another part of my life is travelling. To learn about a place, all methods seem futile for me except being into it. I go to travel every year but studying in New York is my first time to jump out of Asia. My most unforgettable journey is my graduation trip. I went to Taiwan with some of my best friends last July. I lie on the grass and saw the best sunset I’ve ever seen in Kenting.

Music is the most important portion of my life. It has turned my whole life around. It all started with Linkin Park. That was a time when a kid heard ‘New Divide’ and said, ‘the music is so cool.’ So on, I watched the video of ‘Bleed It Out’ and was fascinated by the drum solo of Rob Bourdon. It makes me start playing drums. I have never been that enthusiastic about something. I stopped being a video game nerd. I feel confident and energetic every time picking up my sticks. I used most of my free time practice. Then, drummer called Cobus Potgieter influenced me to put my drum covers on Youtube. I received lots of criticizes and meanwhile, supports. It was the first time for me to take others’ criticizes seriously and constructively and they push me so hard.

That’s it. Have nice day. Peace and love.

(P.S.: The video is in my drum cover channel. Check it out!)

Blog Assignment #1: Jeneva Bailey

Hi! My name is Jeneva Bailey. I am from Far Rockaway, Queens and this is my playlist.

FRO 14 FTA Playlist

  1. Lorde – Team
  2. Untold – Stop What You’re Doing (James Blake RMX)
  3. Radiohead – Everything In Its Right PLace
  4. Bob Marley – Kaya
  5. The Antlers – Putting the Dog To Sleep
  6. Earl Sweatshirt feat. Frank Ocean – Sunday
  7. Kendrick Lamar – Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst
  8. Fela Kuti – Zombie
  9. Burial – Etched Headplate
  10. Alice Coltrane – Galaxy In Satchidananda                                                                                                                                                                           This playlist represents my broad mindedness. I have very diverse interests, especially when it comes to music. I like to think my taste in music says a lot about how I view the world, the fact that I except the darker, more unsavory parts of life as well as the positive aspects. Also that I recognize and appreciate the diversity of my city. Some of the lesser known songs on my playlist show that I am willing to dig a little deeper to find good things. I have been known to be a bit moody at times and I think my playlist is pretty up and down mood wise, though some of them are purely for fun. “Everything In It’s Right Place” is definitely one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time and sums up perfectly how I feel half the time. Though I promise that’s not as bad a thing as it sounds, life is just a lot all at once  sometimes. Alice Coltrane is what the world sounds like to me on the most beautiful days and Burial has been one of my musical obsessions for the past 3 years or so. I think the most important thing this playlist shows about me is a willingness to open myself to diverse influences rather than adhering to the influences other people think I should surround myself with based on stereotypes.
