Major and Minor Fair

It is a great chance to attend the major and minor fair workshop. I went there with my friends and classmates. The workshop offered us useful information that how to choose a good major and minor in the college. A good major is really important to us to get a great work position in the future. Studying a language can be a really good choice to us to decide our minor in college. In addition, the professor were nice and they were patient to answer our questions.

I would like to choose a language as my minor, like Spanish, because my best friend can speak Spanish, which I think is really cool. And it is a great challenge for me to learn it, because it is so hard to pronounce ”r” sound for me.

Also, there were many delicious cookies for the comers. I did really had a great experience in that day.

Monologue

This week, my bicycle got stolen in mid town of Manhattan, New York City, the place where I love the most. I started questioning myself: why can this happened in Manhattan, the center of the world’s economics? I trusted the community in Manhattan with great amount of polices, and this still happened. Do I have to continuously pay attention to everything near me, or is it just a accident? I feel frustrated and from now on, I will not trust any others. A bicycle aren’t worth anything, but it shows the loophole of security in Manhattan.

Writing Center Workshop

On March 21st, I attended to the writing center workshop for how to write the thesis statement and strong supporting sentences. The professor told about data collection as well. In the class, she give us some handouts with examples and started to illustrate how to write a
good thesis. Her lecture was so clear and it helped me a lot. After
her explain, we did some exercises to reinforce what we gain from the
lecture. It became easy writing when I followed the instruction that professor thought us and I could make a clear statement of my data resources collection. The workshop from writing center is really helpful. As an
international student, using English to write is not easy for me.
Workshop and writing center is a great tool to improve my academic
writing skills.
Writing a good paper is not that easy. The best way to get a good grade not only needs to learn writing skills, but also needs us to practice a lot.

Writing Center

On April 4th, I and my friends went to writing center. In the writing center, we learned how write a topic sentence effectively and sufficiently.and I first know that topic sentence can locates at the end of paragraph.

We have discussed clear writing as if we wrote only individual sentences or intention. We also we have learned how to organize sentences so that open them with old information in the topic position, usually with a character as a subject. Then follow the subject with a verb that expresses a crucial action, and place the more complex information into the end of sentence.

Writing center is a great place to go.

Monolog

I am a flower. Who is the flower?Flower is me, but I cannot exactly say what it is. I feel like I was somewhere else before…in a different place, unpleasant, dangerous full of disgusting flowers. People trampled me…humiliated me…Now I am in a better place. In a meadow full of beautiful flowers, and they are like me! I really like my new place, I love the smell of nature, I love the rays of sun. It is not a dream anymore ! I am in a heaven.

Monologue

Another day I get stuck in the train

Prefect time for me to be late

I always wounder

Did lady luck even smile to me

From time to time we all get a hankering for something a little different

Dose the life I’m living

really fit to me

I also have a dream

Someday I can be free

Getting rid of the cage where I’m staying

Be a person I always want to be

There is no lie

There is no trap

Where I can really feel free

Rubin Mesum of Art

On February 27 ,I went to the Rubin Mesum of Art.  The Rubin Museum of Art is dedicated to the collection, display, and preservation of the art and cultures of the Himalayas, India and neighboring regions, with a permanent collection focused particularly on Tibetan art. And it displays more than 1,000 objects including paintings, sculpture, and textiles, as well as ritual objects from the 2nd to the 20th centuries. The new facade on 17th Street and the five floors of galleries were influenced by Tibetan art, and were conceived by New York-based museum architects Celia Imrey and Tim Culbert. Its graphic identity was conceived by graphic designer Milton Glaser. Also The Rubin Museum offers an array of on- and off-site educational programs, as well as public programs such as talks and discussions; film screenings; live music, dance, poetry and other performances; and art demonstrations. The museum continues to refine a museum-wide access program in order to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and special needs, language challenges, and at-risk and underserved segments of the population. A visit to the Rubin Museum is enhanced by the presence of guides in the galleries, American Sign Language tours, verbal imaging and touch tours, and a wheelchair-accessible facility. Assistive listening devices and wheelchairs are also provided. I really enjoyed this trip.
