Weekly reflection #5

Social discourse communication and academical discourse was discussed in class. The difference of the two is that the academical discourse communication is the connection between people with the same class as me, people who are in the same field and the outside field such as club activities and teams. In the other hand, the social discourse communication is the connection between our known people such as our family and neighbor. Besides discussing, we had the opportunity to form a group and start talking about the definition of “culture”. Culture is our identities such as language, traditions and religion. However, people who are indeed different culture as me doesn’t mean that they are not going through the same routine as me. Every time, when I’m on the subway perhaps you have thought the cultural diversity are going to either work or school or go have fun. So even we are boxed based on ethnicity, we still are human, we still considered as “same” people but slightly different.

Weekly reflection #4

Considering the fact that class got cancelled, I still had to come to my morning class at 7:50am and once I knew classes got cancelled I was kinda bored because I had a gap until I had to go to my job. In this week I had my first quiz in psychology and I think I did pretty good and I’m glad that I could be able to be confident!

Weekly reflection 1

Today, September 3rd, I was asked to guess the designated office based on the description given in the board. I had to be in a group so I picked my own group. During the discussion time each member had to completely agree on the name of the designated place and additionally I engaged with new people in which I think was pretty helpful because is expanding my own circle and the connection in business. The idea to be able to discuss in class about the names and the location of each offices was a practical idea for me because I can be able to use the information for future references. Aside from the assignment I think this class was pretty humorous even though we were only freshmen that we barely talked to each other in our first day.

Weekly Reflection 4

Today was the first day of FYS after 2 whole weeks considering class was cancelled last week. In class today we talked about culture and what culture means o us. Culture is something people share as a group. You can associate religion with culture and many other things such as food, clothing, fundamental way of living, music, etc. We also talked about how the United States separate people through a verification of race. I believe that it is neither a bad or good thing that the US has these set standards to have the people who live here in check. America is one of the most diverse countries in the world with people from many different countries. As one of my peers in class has said the US uses this system for logistic purposes. We also watched part of a video which made me think that all people have different yet similar lives. Whether good or bad, we are all still people just living our lives.

Weekly Reflection 9/23

Last week Tuesday we did not have classes, due to problems with the elevators, and i am glad i did not leave my house yet when i got the email. It was great to finally have a day off. Teachers have been giving an increasing number of homework and quizzes, and they all came too fast. One of my teachers has given us a quiz every class for the past 4 classes. Besides that everything is fine, i haven’t done anything special in the school.

Weekly Reflection

Today’s discussion about culture was interesting because it’s new for me to be in a classroom of such diverse backgrounds, considering that I came from a small high school. However, a lot of people were on the same page about of a lot of topics. Last week was an okay week but the classes being cancelled was a plus because I got to rest. And I didn’t have a lot of assignments due so it was a very calm week for me. I am currently focused on finding a new show to watch.

Weekly Reflection 3

On Tuesday 9/17 classes were all cancelled in the NVC building. Luckily all my classes where there. I barely slept that night and I was running late to my philosophy class. I was shocked but filled with excitement that day. I could have went home but I decided to go out with friends that day and watch movies. I have been doing pretty well in all my classes so far. I got 100 on most of my quizzes for math. I also started to practice new songs on the piano. Im slowly learning more about Baruch and what it has to offer.

Weekly Reflection (9/17-9/23)

My week was awesome at the start! Seeing the email regarding classes being cancelled  made my entire day. I finally had a chance to catch up on work and sleep; I primarily did the latter. My communications class is slightly stressful though given that I’m behind on class work, but I trust that I’ll catch up. I have a first exam for my calculus class coming up, and it’s honestly the most stressful part of my week because I’m just so bad at the subject. All of my other classes are fine though. I hope to have some ‘me’ time during this upcoming weekend because I really need it in order to de-stress and better my overall mental health.

Weekly Reflection

The week was pretty eventful as it shocked me that class got canceled on Tuesday as this had never happened in such a sudden manner. This short break was perfect as I had not gotten enough sleep and this was a miracle as I went and took a five hour nap after getting home. I also did well on my math quiz getting an 85% despite coming in late and not looking over the question carefully. Another event was that a good friend of mine was going to the Air Force so he and some of our other friends hung out all day before he left.

Weekly Reflection #3

I failed my History quiz this week with a solid 5/10 because I didn’t bother reading 30 pages for homework. I also go sick this weekend which is just lovely. I also made a couple friends this week and I went to go get hotpot with one of them last Sunday. I’m planning on getting my nails done this weekend so I’m excited about that.
