Video Game “Addiction”

Video gaming is sometimes thought of as an unproductive, destructive, and addictive habit. This is perpetuated by the media covering extreme, sensational stories of gamers dying or becoming ill. Often, these stories fail to address any issues that the gamers struggled with prior to gaming. Correlation is not causation. People play games for many different reasons. The following videos from Extra Credits address these misconceptions about “gaming addiction” and whether such a thing actually exists. The first of the three videos provides context and brings upĀ important questions for the audience to keep in mind.
