Map Quiz

As we learned in the Geography seminar, learning countries, capitals and bodies of water isn’t the be-all and end-all of geography. But it’s the building blocks! Having a well-developed sense of geographical knowledge is crucial to understanding and contextualizing global events. The map quizzes have the goal of developing your “mental map” of the world: being able to quickly identify countries, major cities, physical landmarks that have shaped society, and current regions in the news.

  1. The countries, features, rivers and regions that you need to identify are listed on each map. Try to fill out as many as you can before looking them up. Honor system!
  2. Use maps, atlases or other tools to correct your mistakes and fill the rest in.
  3. Bring completed maps to the next GSC session for scoring.
