Conclusion

These two parks have a rich history, and remain an integral part of the Baruch College  community. Union Square is still an oasis for activists. Madison Square Park’s attractions include music shows, art events, and gastronomical extravaganzas. Both parks have organizations dedicated to keeping these parks viable venues for relaxation and recreation. The Madison Square Park Conservancy is dedicated to keeping Madison Square Park a beautiful public park. The Union Square Partnership is an advocate for the Union Square community. Present-day Baruch College students can appreciate how these parks have contributed to the life of the college since its founding in 1847. They continue to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the neighborhoods that surround them.
