In this New York Times article, it is reported that the New York City Council passed a law that employers cannot penalize women who ask for minor job modifications due to their pregnancy and childbirth. This act allows women to have the choice to protect her baby’s health and secure the child’s economic future, versus having to choose between the two. Providing these job accommodations would also benefit the employer.
