After much searching I’ve chosen a poem and figured out what I’m going to do for my digital story. I’m much more excited about the digital story than the essay. I won’t give away the whole thing so I’ll just say that I am doing the poem “Where the sidewalk ends” by Shel Silverstein and I’m going to be doing a slideshow for the digital story.

As for the paper, I am certainly having trouble saying what I want to say. Finding articles off of JSTOR wasn’t too difficult for finding things on my author, so I’m glad because I imagine other people might have trouble. What I’m having trouble with is that this is such a long paper and I’m afraid that all of what I wrote about had almost nothing to do with the articles or the author and I think it’s supposed to. I feel I focused too much on the aspect of interpretation and not enough on…I don’t know, something that I’m supposed to be focusing on. I really have no idea. It’s just a really shitty first draft.

On another note, I’m not sure if we should all bring the poems we are writing about or not. The outline does not say to do so for the drafts and I know some people may have really long poems and also we should find most of the information we need to know from the essay, so do we bring it? I’m going to attach mine since it is a small poem.

Good luck everyone!

    Hi Vito,
Why did you choose this poem? Why is it important to you? Is Shel Silverstein normally considered a poet that we’d talk about in college? Why do you think he should be?

These are just some questions to help you get started…
