This is the video for my digital essay. The essay was on the song “War”, by Bob Marley and the Wailers. I used a song by Bob’s son Damian and footage from WWII, till present day war footage in Iraq, finishing with images of peaceful leaders of our time who were able to make change without violence. The thesis of this essay is that nothing has changed over the last 100 years. We still have wars, and corruption. But the lesson to keep in mind is that there have been people who have made big changes through peace, and if we want to evoke change now, everyone needs to wake up, stop fighting and clean up their own little area of the globe. Everyone wants to be happy, or at least we all think we do. But, what is happiness?
I really liked your video! It was simple and got the message across and the song fits perfectly. Also, I don’t know if you did it on purpose but when the song breaks out into fast verses, you switch over to just pictures quickly and it was a perfect transition. You really worked closely with the song and just the combination of images and war videos worked perfectly. You also managed to connect so many different people under one video and that was probably one of the most shocking things of all. Great job, Alex!
