For this digital essay I used Walt Whitman’s poem ” I Saw in Louisiana a Live Tree Growing”. In this poem Whitman talks about an experience he had in nature with this certain tree that caught his eye. He doesnt understand how this tree manages to grow big and tall while being alone at the same time. He knew if he were alone like this tree he would not be able to live without a partner, a friend. Whitman’s message in this poem is that  the ability for humans to love one another and build friendship is the most important thing we have in life. Something that we must not take for granted. The capability of humans to partner with each other and live amongst ourselves is far overlooked.

With this video I attempted to capture these moments. Displaying natural human interaction in New York City. I tried to capture moments where love and friendship are clearly apparent. Everything in this video is filmed live by me as I did not use any outside sources for making this video. To capture the moment it all had to be natural hope you guys enjoy.
