The Internet as Art

I don’t think of the internet as art. It is more of a medium through which art can be displayed and shared worldwide. The actual internet is a science. and I equate the internet to a science because of the use of mathematical algorithms. I believe that the internet can inspire artistic themes, such as highlighting the things users run into through pieces of art. For example the website with the 404 Error code. The website demonstrated a piece of art, but I’m not convinced that the internet itself is actually art. It may be said that websites can be seen as art, and I would agree to an extent but again I would say that the website is a means through which to display the art. The use of code is what helps facilitate the design.
