In todays time the human being is not superior anymore. Electronic devices are. We can thank the on going evolution of technology for this. Computers have a storage system that the human brain can only dream of. We live in a time where information surrounds us. We have information at our fingertips. Literally. Iphones should really just be called mini laptops. There are also devices that make stealing your identity and credit card information as easy as snapping your fingers. Not to mention the recent Wikileaks scandal that has gotten so much attention. Not all information should be this easily acquired especially not classified government information, but I’m sure historians would make no complaints. This is why it will be a cinch for historians in the future to gather evidence from our time.
With the click of a button a file is saved. There it stays for weeks perhaps even years until you try to clean out your computer. Too bad you can’t do that with your memories right? From personal experience I know just how much my lap top loves to store information. No matter what website i go on to order items off of, my information pops right up as soon as i type in the letter K, address and all. As for the start of archiving tweets, lets just say its hard to believe it can get much easier. One website that is said to have fifty million tweets per day? For future historians the where, as in where can I look to find this information won’t be the hard part. Reading the 30 million useless tweets about peoples lives that will be the painful part. But in reality this archive is one huge timeline of events. There will be events tweeted about the very moment they happen. Which means it will pretty much be a piece of cake for historians to use this information and perhaps string together events.
I love the title of this blog…just as much I love the movie 🙂
