Since the introduction of the internet nearly 50 years ago, historians in the present day have used the vast information accessible to the public in order to gain knowledge of trends and behaviors in society. Nowadays, almost anything can be found on the internet; from historical documents to ”blueprints” of political corruption which makes privacy nearly obsolete. Tweets are now being archived which would not only allow everyone to view peoples posts, but also record significant events in history which will be future historians most sacred resource.
WikiLeaks, another vast collection of private information posted anonymously, contain even more powerful documents which would be a greater advantage for historians who would be able to gain insight to not only events in the United States but also the correlation with other nations across the world. Technology is a very powerful tool; if properly used, it will open up new doors to the world of knowledge, but if used for the wrong reasons, it can forever change the reliability from its users.
