Exploration by far is the most important factor for the United States being what it is today. Although explorers always set sail with a specific intent, it seems that there discoveries are always different from there initial goal. Christopher Columbus is a a prime example. He made a huge discovery of a land that he didn’t even new existed by accident. Though Columbus was only one of the many explorers who sailed during the Age of Exploration, he opened a gateway for people to sail here and attain more knowledge of a foreign country which at the time they new nothing about. Christopher Columbus in some sense, was the blue print of change in the United States.
Many other explorers also aided in change of the United States. People like Henry Hudson and Giovanni Di Verazzano had found trading ports and so on. Without exploration and the finding of America it’s hard to say where we would be now. Accidents generally aren’t a good thing, but in Columbus’ case it was a great thing. The foundation of our country was a good deal thanks to him.
