The most important group of people was actually the Native Americans – from the Algonquians to the five Iroquois tribes (Mohawks, Oneidas, Onondagas, Cayugas, and Senecas). Without their interactions or involvements the Europeans would not have even survived in the new continent. Regardless of their misunderstandings, it was the Native Americans who showed them how to raise crops, build their homes, and even traded with them. The main reason the Europeans traveled to the Newfoundland was because of greed for wealth. They discovered an opportunity to get rich, and the Native Americans were their tools to help them succeed.
Not only were the Native Americans helpful for their survival, some even gained pleasure from them. Since not many women came through the voyage, the men were deprived of attention from the opposite sex. Therefore, when they saw Native American women, they were instantly charmed by the exotic appearances. Natives are the sole reason for European survival and the basis for them still staying and building their colonies.
