Henry Hudson was a pioneer. He was an English navigator who crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1609. He also became the first person to sail what is now named the Hudson River ( named after himself). He sailed across the Atlantic to North America, where he sailed across the coast of Nova Scotia, and sailed all the way down to what is now named the New York Harbor. From there on he sailed up the Hudson River, allegedly going all the way to north to Albany. He made it all the way to Hudsons Bay before dying in the June of 1611. He was extremely important to New York landscaping because he discovered one of the most important rivers in New York City. This river is used constantly for travel and commerce.
