The Dutch West India Company

The Dutch colonizers had a big plan to create New amsterdam (mordern day New York) into a major trading center. The Dutch West India Company proved to be a significant factor into what New York City is today. The DWIC was the largerest internation supplier of slaves which were of a heavy demand in the new market center. The location played a key role in becoming a great trading center, New Amsterdam, having a natural habor. Over time the market place would set the standerds into being the major commerce city and urban life New York City

  1. The Dutch West Indian Trading Company help put New York on the map for trading among other countries and brought jobs and other vital necessities to the area. Being so, I would say this new trade center played a significant role in establishing New York and should therefore be mentioned on the midterm.
