The Water that Never Froze..

NYC had the only harbor that did not freeze.  Philadelphia was located on the Delaware river and had a freshwater rather then saltwater harbor, was great because tons of boats can sit there and dock for hours without have any sufficient damage happen from the sea worms . But to every good there’s a bad , and while the water protected the boats from the sea worms when it got viciously cold outside it started to freeze the water and freeze the docks. So navigation and transportation of items ,goods or people had to be stopped. Whereas NYC had a harbor that never froze and was deep enough to accommodate the largest and biggest ships that came to its docks. It had the perfect location near Long Island which protected it from hurricanes and other storms that would threaten the east coast.
