Everywhere you look has Roman influence. The Spanish empire set up ‘The Laws of the Indies’ which they used on earlier settlements. The laws presented how to construct a city. By imposing these laws they were able to have common design throughout the cities, having the town built around a central area where trade and barter can easily be accessible. If you take a look at a random city map you will be able to see ninety degree angles, rectangular blocks, and straight streets.
