
Railroad that operated in Northeastern United Sates Headquarted in New York
The New York Central was a railroad system that was based in New York and connected in to other states through out Northeastern United States such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Massachusetts. This railroad system was of great importance because by connecting these states to each other it allowed for New York to prosper by creating an efficient way to transport goods between states and their ports and major cities. This railroad also had some additional trackage to it leading into some of Canada like Quebec and Ontario, this would allow for New York to now have access to the goods that Canada offered allowing for a greater distribution across the greater north american continent. This railroad also connected New York to Boston in the east and other cities such as Chicago and St. Louis that were in the Mid-West. The New York Central was a vital part of New Yorks commerce during the years that it was operational and aided New York to be the center for trade in the United States.
