Bookworms unite! Origin of the New York Public Library

The New York Public Library is an institution that has enriched millions of New Yorkers from all walks of life. This free library system was established in 1895; the main branch, pictured here, was opened in 1911. It has evolved to boast 87 branches and 20,402,004 books.
