Homberger’s argument in Chapter 4 discussed how important New York was during, and after, The Revolution. One main way in which New York was shown as an important state was by making it the capital after the Constitution was created: “With the adoption of the new constitution in September 1788, New York City was to be capital of the new state of New York, and temporary capital of the nation” (Homberger 59). Out of the 13 states that originally signed the Constitution, New York was chosen to become the temporary capital of the United States of America. New York was chosen because of its commercial sector. It was financially expanding faster than other states, and thus was represented as the face of the Nation.
The mere fact that New York City was not only pronounced the capital of New York, but also the temporary capital of the United States demonstrates how powerful New York was around September 1788. After the new Constitution was written, George Washington got inaugurated in New York itself, because it was the capital of the nation. Not only did New York become strong financially, but also was more socially involved. Broadway and Wall Street took a rise, and still continued to flourish. Wall Street is still famous for having financial symbolic value linked to its name. Some people still confuse New York to be the capital of USA when it is Washington DC.
The historical significance of New York City being dubbed the capital of the United States and also the capital of New York just goes to show how important it was to the country. It shows as Anita says, just how powerful New York City was at that time. This was due to the fact that it was the busiest and most money hungry place on the Eastern side. In my opinion New York Evolution is about a 5 in importance. It does have significance because i live in this state, but more things of more importance have happened in other places.
I think being named the capital was very important for New York City because it gave the people confidence to go out and be leaders. I believe if it wasn’t for that “naming”, New York City wouldn’t be the same city it is. Instead of being the capital of the US, it is the capital of the World (much more powerful)! Therefore, I give it a 9.
In deed women participate along side with a men in the American revolution . Women participate economically and politically in this vast ,successful revolution by keeping husband’s or father’s business a life, by boycotting British goods and producing a goods for soldier, by spying on the British and also delivering a secret massages . Boycotting British goods by no importing or non consumption was one of many other factors in the American resistance. So women involvement can be 7.
New York City is the central of economic power and economic regulation which is the one of the reason for British to come over New York city. Being the powerful city in economic, it is also the capital of United States. As she has mentioned about the Wall Street an Broadway, these are the most important place where trade never stops.
Mohamd, I think you posted in the wrong section.
