In todays time as well as in the past, there are always conflicting views. It is in people’s nature to think that their view is also the view of others. The Plebeians as talked about in Gilje’s reading, were the lower or working class and naturally they had opposing views bout their community with the Patrician’s or upper class. Aside from the fact that every person has their own opinions and thoughts, another reason for this opposing animosity was the increased social divisions. This meant upper class against lower class. This is a problem in which we don’t see much of these days, however it does still occur.
Mostly today the political parties have conflicting views. It’s said that the Democrats are for the lower or working class and the Republicans for the upper class. It seems that analytically the Democrats would be in relation with the Plebeians, and the Republicans with the Patricians. This goes to show that even in times before these, the “political parties” so to speak had conflicting views and remain to have conflicting views.
